Opinion on engine additives
Do any of you use additives in your engines? I put Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner in my vehicles, and wondered if anyone uses it in their PCX 150 or Forzas?

I use chevron with techron already in it. Techron is the real deal.

Does that include reading and believing your posts?you you wrote:Being gullible goes a long way
Keep up the good work, I enjoy your cynicism.
Re: Opinion on engine additives
It doesn't do any harm. Very, very high mileage bikes with catastrophic converters may benefit from a specific CAT cleaner but...

Unless Honda recommends it, it's not necessary. These things are very well-engineered.

Re: Opinion on engine additives
Exactly - the PCX engine is fine and does well without anything other than what Honda specifies being added or any changes to the bike - it's efficient, lasts a long time (unless you get one of the small % duds) and the bike does almost as good stock as people spending $1000's on it.
Also, any good 4-stroke oil will do - doesn't need to have all kinds of additives added above what gets added to good oil anyway - modern oils are good.
North UK for one gets lots of rain and sub-zero temps - the PCX/Forza's seem to do very well on normal oil and fuel (winter Fuel for about 1/3rd/yr) without adding any other stuff.

Sorry what do you mean?iceman wrote:Exactly - the PCX engine is fine and does well without anything other than what Honda specifies being added or any changes to the bike - it's efficient, lasts a long time (unless you get one of the small % duds) and the bike does almost as good stock as people spending $1000's on it.
I spent thousand on it and now I have a Pcx that's twice as fast to to its top end speed than a stock 150cc Pcx..that's a massive difference, infact it's also faster to 60mph than a 300cc Forza!
Surely you can't argue against that?!

Re: Opinion on engine additives
Well, glad it's worked out for you. Many have spent lots on parts and lots of time 'fiddling' and ended up with hardly any improvement or problems.
Also, over here, spending lots on it and if you are honest about the changes, the insurance and registration changes would be hard to sort and expensive (unless people keep quite and ride bikes that are no longer legal).

The thread is about fuel additives, not performance modificationsPcxdemon wrote:I spent thousand on it and now I have a Pcx that's twice as fast to to its top end speed than a stock 150cc Pcx..that's a massive difference, infact it's also faster to 60mph than a 300cc Forza!

Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong
Re: Opinion on engine additives
Friction reducing additives can yield benefits but as a PCX is only a single cylinder they would not be huge. Especially at higher speeds where aerodynamics plays a bigger role.
Re: Opinion on engine additives
Too small and too light for more than stock speed.Pcxdemon wrote:Sorry what do you mean?iceman wrote:Exactly - the PCX engine is fine and does well without anything other than what Honda specifies being added or any changes to the bike - it's efficient, lasts a long time (unless you get one of the small % duds) and the bike does almost as good stock as people spending $1000's on it.

Nothing on your little scooter was designed for more....

Re: Opinion on engine additives
So, now you're putting "way-above-design" pressure on your small system. Don't expect it to last long. That money you spent could have been put into a properly designed more powerful machine that would likely be faster AND hold up. Did part of that money go into a beefier oiling system or heavier-duty bottom-end? How about cooling? These systems are all about pressure and it's use/management. Fix one problem, create five others (watchwords of our faith).Pcxdemon wrote:Sorry what do you mean?iceman wrote:Exactly - the PCX engine is fine and does well without anything other than what Honda specifies being added or any changes to the bike - it's efficient, lasts a long time (unless you get one of the small % duds) and the bike does almost as good stock as people spending $1000's on it.

OT
For the price of a Ferrari would be Sam Waltons could buy six F150's?
How people spend their money is irrelevant?
It is PCXdemon's hobby. Maybe he doesn't go fishing, collect watches or whatever others spend their money on.
Like a SYM?j.d.b. wrote:That money you spent could have been put into a properly designed more powerful machine that would likely be faster AND hold up.

Re: Opinion on engine additives
Sorry to have offended you.
Re: Opinion on engine additives
My Forza performs great just the way it is, I don't plan on any mods or making any changes, just do what the manual says. Leave well enough alone. I've learned from the past from trying to mod 150's for greater performance, that it affects the longevity of the machine.

I was not offended. Just stating my opinion on spending money. Up to certain amounts that is what it is for. After that it is for making more?j.d.b. wrote:Sorry to have offended you.

I used only Honda products in my Forza.
