Newbie needing advice on exhaust

Post by proteinsdef »

Hi Everyone,

This post has probably been done to death, but I cant seem to find any info on the site. I am looking at fitting an ixil exhaust to my otherwise stock PCX 125. What I am wanting to know is can I just bolt it straight on or does the engine need to be remapped. I heard horror stories of engines getting too hot and detonating or is this tosh?

I fitted a givi screen this week and am simply amazed at the different it makes, never hit the limiter before until now.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Dan :D

You can pretty much just bolt it on. If you start fitting big bore kits and the like you need to play with the mapping.

No doubt someone will chime in if I'm wrong.

Heh. "Tosh." You're definitely on the other side of the pond from me.

You're fine, the ECU can handle small changes quite handily. Bolt it on and go ride it!

OH! been there done that  you will enjoy if you get the right weights. I put this kit in myself and discovered 12g rollers were excellent performance for PCX.

Yup, i have the 13 sliders here on the desk. I have the scooter a week, about 100 miles driven, and actually am pretty surprised at the acceleration that I have now, pushing my fat ass. So the 13 's should just be great...i want less top end, more takeoff power here in s fla....drivers are insane.

Jge64 You are correct with 13g rollers ... my mistake I had to go check which set were left over. I had tried and removed the 12g's after just one run down the highway. You will feel the difference.
