Supporting scoot while removing front wheel
Hi all
Quick question, what's the best way to support the PCX to enable the front wheel to be removed, considering the belly-pan is plastic and may crumple if placed on blocks?
Cheers

I used an old car battery under the forks.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

I just put a towel on a floor jack and lift it up gently. The plastic will push up just until the frame id contacted, No permanent damage.
Too many scoots..... 12 or so I think .

Two good ideas so far, cheers
I see from your pic Chucktuna that with the lower body panels removed, there is a frame tube that could be supported with an axle stand?

It goes without saying that the majority of the weight should be supported by the center stand.
Whatever you use the hold up the front end would only have a few pounds on it.
In fact, a well secured weight on the rear of the seat, or under the seat could act as a counterbalance and let the front hang free.
I used a floor jack for mine>

Put a wood block on your jack and lift up from the front of the pan while your on the center stand. Run the block or 2x4 scrap perpendicular to the bike across the bottom. This will disperse the weight. Throw a microfiber rag across the piece of wood to protect the paint.

Exactly what I do. It pivots on the centerstand very easily.Mgalutia88 wrote:Put a wood block on your jack and lift up from the front of the pan while your on the center stand. Re: Supporting scoot while removing front wheel
I cheat. I have an I-beam in my basement that goes the length of it and helps hold up the house. I can just throw a rope over it and attach the ends to the handle bars.
Currently own:

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires

NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

I would love a basement. It's one of my tick off things before I shuffle of my mortal coil
The "rec room" from Tremors would be good

I do something similar and use a ratchet strap over the garage roller door support bracketMel46 wrote:I cheat. I have an I-beam in my basement that goes the length of it and helps hold up the house. I can just throw a rope over it and attach the ends to the handle bars.

This is what I do. The I-beam in my basement has an ATV winch on it, and I just crank the front end into the air.Mel46 wrote:I cheat. I have an I-beam in my basement that goes the length of it and helps hold up the house. I can just throw a rope over it and attach the ends to the handle bars.
