2019 Variator top speed; gear swap?

Post by 2019PCX150_PA_USA »

I installed the below parts in 2020 and was disappointed with no improvement in top speed. I learned that 2019 has a different gear set than older models which is why I didn't see the improvement that others saw. I have 3300 miles on my scooter now with the original belt and parts but top speed is now 66mph and then bounces off the rev limiter.

NCY Variator Assembly (Golden Pulley)
NCY Drive Face (Aluminum)
NCY Roller Weights (20x15)

I see there are a ton of Variator options today but would any of them help with top speed at all? I'm not opposed to swapping gear but has anyone actually done this? I didn't see in the search.

What size rollers did you install (Gram specific). Did you gain ANY more top end at all? What was your top end before, bone stock?

I have that same exact setup on mine. I immediately saw an extra 7-10MPH top end granted I have a 2017. Get a TTO tach. Helps with tuning the variator.

I run 10.5G sliders in my NCY Variator.

I don't recall top speed stock. I think it was 72MPH. I did some testing yesterday though.

Put in the stock vari with the same weights (almost certain they are stock) from the NCY vari I was running. Immediately picked up from 66 to 70MPH top speed. Swapped in the 20x14G NCY rollers, top speed dropped to 69mph with no additional pulling power up a long hill.

The NCY vari OR 14G weights weights both had negative impacts IMO. I'm now back to 100% stock. Mileage seems to have went up a bit as a bonus.

I did notice the NCY's face is a smaller diameter than the stock Honda one. Wouldn't 10G weights make the engine scream even more? I'm not sure what the stock weights are but I think I could go inbetween them and the 14G if I wanted but probably not worth the effort.
