Is this too much engine oil?
Is this too much engine oil?
Checked 15 mins after switching the engine off after coming back home.
What should I do to remove some of it?
The last engine oil change was done by a junior mechanic at the workshop.
Could there have been damage done to the engine?

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
Still too blurry...where’s the oil dry/wet line?....If it’s where I think it is, yes it’s way too much oil. It should be down on the little small part of the stick that’s x’d out
Pull the plug and let some out. Also remember you don’t screw it in to check it you just let it sit on the top of the threads, not screwing it in. That may be your problem if you screwed it all the way in to get the reading
Have you read how to check the oil in the manual?

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
Definitely way too much. Buy a 1000ml Measuring cup. Drain all your oil, Measure it and reinsert exactly 1000mls. Shouldn't take much more than 10 minutes.

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
shouldn't it be 800 ml?
or can i use a straw and remove the excess oil until it reaches a more satisfactory level?
Re: Is this too much engine oil?
You are right. I read the wrong section. Its 800mls.
I would highly recommend drain and refill to get exactly 800mls but If you dont have the resources to drain and fill, a straw or syringe with hose would would just fine.

It should be 800ml. I use a spare empty container. Mark 800ml and always use that as a gauge for my oil changes.

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
Very strange.
So I went to the workshop to get the old oil drained out and put in new fresh engine oil. I told the mechanic to put in 800 mls, which he did.
After which, I went for a ride for about 20 kms then stopped for a break. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I took out the dipstick to check.
It still shows the oil level way above the maximum level.
I don't know what's wrong.
Any ideas?

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
Are you sure you’re not screwing it all the way in and using all the threads and making it tight, or are you just sitting the stick on top of the threads and not screwing it in?

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
Maybe the bike was not level when the oil was drained and not all drained out. If this is what it reads after you added 800 and the dipstick is just inserted to the threads (not threaded in) ..... then this seems a bit high but not horribly so. You're supposed to measure it when the bike is hot .... if it's hot and level and measures too high then you can take some out with a sight tube / straw I guess.
To get a true reading, get the oil hot and bike level. Then remove the dipstick and first wipe it clean and then re-insert the dipstick centered w/o swiping the case threads or threading it in - pull it back out and get the reading. Basically, a quart of oil will suffice to drain and refill BOTH the final drive and the engine.

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
Engine oil does not affect final drive. Final drive seperate section. of the vehicle.

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
Its overfilled but not by a huge amount.
Its not ideal but won't cause any damage. If it bothers you use a small syringe and pipe to remove the excess.

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
This is strange.
I went to the mechanic and got the old oil all drained out. I personally tilted the bike left and right to ensure the old oil drained out completely.
Then I told the mechanic to put in exactly 800ml of fresh new engine oil. I brought a measuring cup with me for him to do it in front of my eyes.
Got the engine started for 3 minutes, left it off for another 5 mins. When I checked the dipstick, it still showed the same oil level again, it was still way above the maximum line.
I've placed an order for a new, stock dipstick then I'll see how it goes.

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
After these few months, I still have this problem of high oil level on my dipstick.
I've always ensured the mechanic put in just 800 ml during each oil change.
Could anything else be the cause?
Could fuel be mixing into the oil pan or something?

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
A fuel injector that is stuck wide-open will add gas to the crank case oil…known as “making oil” -google it…..

Re: Is this too much engine oil?
ok I get your point about the fuel injector.
Just yesterday I've already used this syringe to take out some of the engine oil as pictured. Then after which, I put the dipstick in without screwing it in, and the level is still too high, way above the max line. It seems as though taking out some of the engine oil didn't even make a difference. All this was done before the engine was even started.
Does anyone know what's happening?
Could it still be the fuel injector? But the engine wasn't even started.

Smell the oil, does it smell like gas?
