Motor oil burned 100ml for 2500km
Filled new Mobil fs 0w-40 @5500km to 8000km (now).
Yesterday, I checked the engine oli level, insufficient, top up 100ml, OK.
All day time driving 28-37 degree Celsius. Long tour 400km average, including a 600km one day tour.
Is it normal?

Re: Motor oil burned 100ml for 2500km
Well, (check me on this) my calculation says that's about 10% of the normal capacity down in 2,500km / 1,550 miles. You're riding long daily distances, and the average temp is about 32c / 90f and you're using 0-40wt oil. Based on the photos (beautiful countryside !), is it correct that a good part of that riding has been WOT or nearly wide open throttle going up significant hills?
If so, that combination of factors might result in more oil usage than a typical "around town" usage .... but I'm not sure if other PCX owners have experienced similar usage on extended hilly trips.

Re: Motor oil burned 100ml for 2500km
Sorry. . .I haven't got enough mileage on my PCX yet to compare. Just changed it at around 600 miles and now have about 1100 miles on it. I use the Pro Honda HP4M 10w-40 in the engine. Haven't noticed any change in the oil level yet when I check it. Mostly around town and some country road riding. We rarely get much over 30 C. in my region during our Summers.
That being said I really enjoy seeing your touring pictures so I hope your PCX keeps running well so you can share more pics with us!

My oil level never goes down, but I only travel 70 kms/ day on average. The engine could get so hot on a 400 kms ride a day, that's probably normal.
Just make sure your coolant level is also regularly checked.
Try other brands of oil too if you want.

Re: Motor oil burned 100ml for 2500km
I've started tracking my usage as precisely as possible to gauge engine wear. I started do it with my last oil change (which I do myself every 4000km) - last change exactly 800ml went in on the previous change, and exactly 740ml came out - so I lost 60ml in 4000km. I'll be changing it again in the next couple of weeks, so I'm interested to see what it'll be thing time. The bike started that change on 24,00km and finished it on 28,000km.
Hope that helps.

it's either you hav very good attention to details youyou, or you just spend more time staring at your monitor. Was the selfie intentional?
I believe it's not intentional, just like when I took a photo of my side mirror and unintentionally took a selfie. I mean, c'mon, who likes taking photos of themselves?

Based on my experience with my 2015 here in northern Colorado, I'd say yes, that's normal for your touring. Personally, I never go longer than three refuelings between oil level checks. (1,000km?) These engines don't hold much oil to begin with, so even a little oil loss can make a big impact on dipstick levels.doletotodole wrote:Filled new Mobil fs 0w-40 @5500km to 8000km (now).

What kind of fuel economy are you seeing with the 0W-40? And I don't recall, but how long is your tour? It looks beautiful!! Very cool!!

Hello, Sir,
0w-40 I feel also have great fuel economy, approx. 50km for long tour, but I am switching to Mobil EP 5w-30 for next change.
My tour is 4000km in total.
