Re: 600 Mile Service in Progress

I went ahead and ordered the Hand Deflectors that Branyers14 provided the link for. They look nice and seem to be made as well as the US made National Cycle brand. They seem to be made specifically for Honda scooters which pleases me. I've used hand deflectors on my previous scooters and they really...

Battery compartment access

I plan on trying to remove the battery compartment cover in order to gain access to the battery connectons. The dealer installed a Battery Tender harness on the battery connections and I want to replace that harness with my Gerbing's harness so that I can use my Gerbing's heated gloves or more likel...

Re: Malossi Shocks

I recalled another thread about someone using a hammer and a screwdriver to turn the darn shock. So I put the scooter on the center stand and tried the hammer and screwdriver method on the right side shock. After a few hits, ta da! It worked and the shock turned to the soft setting! And I was able t...

Re: Malossi Shocks

Well, I don't weigh much more than you do SteveP, so I decided to try the softest setting. Also, I always ride solo. I removed the bolt and tried to turn the darn shock to the soft position but I was unable to turn it. I tried the two piece tool that I bought but I did not have enough strength in my...

Re: Malossi Shocks

SteveP, today I used the technique that you suggested to access the shock bolt and it worked perfectly! After I rotated the shock to check the setting, I was surprised to see it was already on the 2nd softest position. That was the position that I had planned to put it on. I checked the left side sh...

Re: Malossi Shocks

SteveP, thank you again. I had the scooter on its side stand when I started to remove the bolt. Good thing that I stopped after I got it half way off! Tomorrow, I will do as you said and put it on the center stand and then remove the bolt to adjust the shock settings. I will let you know if the adju...

Re: Malossi Shocks

SteveP, another question for you. I was able to get the 14mm socket and breaker bar on the bolt and I started to unloosen it. I was surprised that it was not on very tight. Anyway, I got the bolt about half way unfastened when I freaked out. My question: once the bolt is removed, will the shock free...

Re: Malossi Shocks

SteveP, thanks again for the info. What you described makes it sound doable for me to try. I had not yet tried fitting the 14mm socket with the breaker bar attached but if they don't fit, then I know to try your method which sounds logical. In checking my misc motorcycle/scooter cabinet, I found som...

Re: Malossi Shocks

Thanks for the tip on how to break the bolt free. Did you use the Locktite stuff on it when you tightened the bolt back on? My 14mm box wrench is pretty short and I do not have a pipe to use for extra leverage. I might have access to a tool called a "breaker bar" that might work if I have ...

Re: Malossi Shocks

I'm tempted to try SteveP's suggestion and see if adjusting the shocks to the "soft" setting will be enough for me without having to buy the pricey aftermarket shocks. But I haven't gotten the courage up to try removing the right side bolt to make the adjustment. You see, I have injuries t...

Re: Malossi Shocks

Too bad they're considered "racing shocks" because they'd probably void my warranty. Also, I would need to have the dealer install them for me and they would charge me a small fortune to remove the plastic bodywork and then install the shocks. I finally go the two piece rear shock tool fro...

Re: Malossi Shocks

Branyers14, thanks for responding back. So it sounds like you did not torque down the bolts for the shocks - at least for the top bolts. Isn't that sort of risky?

How does your bike ride now? Was the expense worth it?

Re: Malossi Shocks

Branyers14, the shocks look great and the adjustment also looks easier to do. I'm thinking about ordering a set of them and having a friend install them for me. To install them do you have to remove panels to get to the upper bolt for the shock? Looks like kind of tight clearances in there between t...

Re: 600 Mile Service in Progress

To Branyers14: Thanks for the link to the hand deflectors. I bought a set very similar to those in your link but I bought mine from National Cycle for my Honda Nighthawk 750. I later used them on my Silverwing scooter. I'm not sure that they will fit on my Forza though. How much did they charge you ...

Re: 600 Mile Service in Progress

Jockay, thanks for your comments about the suspension. Though I wish that I would seen your comment before I picked up my bike this afternoon - I would have had the dealer set the shocks on the "softest" setting. While I just received the two piece tool to adjust the shocks, I did not know...

600 Mile Service in Progress

I hit the magic 600 mile mark today on my Forza so I rode it to the dealer for its first service. I had already purchased the taller Honda wind screen and a Givi topcase mount for my topcase and they will be installed too. I asked the service manager about the most recent recall for the Forza and I ...

Re: What colour ....

Living in the USA, mine is red. But I really like the color and I hope that it makes me more visable and also, it matches my red Aerostich Roadcrafter suit. Besides, I have not seen another Forza on the road so it doesn't matter that they are all red here in the US.

Re: talk SilverWing to.me please

Go for it! I loved my Silverwing even though it did not have ABS. It was comfortable, had plenty of power and the motor sounded so nice! I added a Cee Bailey taller windscreen, Givi topcase, hand wind deflectors (from National Cycle), and leg deflectors (from England). I don't remember what the MPGs...

Re: How long have you been scooting?

In May 1962, I went to the local Honda dealer to buy a step through Honda 50. But when I got there I saw the Sport 50 which looked like a small motorcycle and had a shift lever and clutch lever like a motorcycle. So that's what I bought. After many, many motorcycles, in 2005, I made the switch to sc...

Re: new to forum

Well, I guess that you're not letting any dust gather under the tires! Gosh, you'll be due for the 600 mile service before the day is over. Looking forward to your report on your new Forza - handling, comfort, and things like that. How does it compare to the S'wing and the Burg 400? Nice that you fo...
