Re: changing fork seals

If there is oily residue down the forks, then yes, they may need changing. Mine was a really slight leak - just the dust cap slightly damp. Worth trying a 'seal mate' tool to see if you can fix it that way as I will admit, getting the forks apart is a swine of a job if the bolt at the bottom of the ...

Re: changing fork seals

I have only just bought the scooter homie and have had it stripped down for a thorough check over - hence the desire to get everything just right. Leaking seal was first picked up 2years ago at the mot, but its a pretty minor leak. It was mentioned as a "misting seal" and I would say its s...

Re: changing fork seals

Will report back, but I am not using the bike until April. It will then be used daily.

Re: Valve adjustment.. How necessary ??

My bike has 13000 miles and I have just checked clearances. I don't believe they have been checked before as there was no evidence of plastics ever being removed (screwdriver marks on screws, the odd broken tab etc.). Exhaust valve was bang on, whilst inlet valve was 0.002" too tight i.e. 2 tho...

Re: changing fork seals

I live in Nuthall DAB. Thanks for the offer, I have been in the garage this evening and figured out how they come apart. There is no way the bolt at the bottom of the forks is coming out, so I have bought a 'seal mate' rather than changing the seals. I dont like giving up, but this has me beat for t...

Re: changing fork seals

Stanchions do appear ok but I will be checking them over once I get them off the bike. You can buy new stanchions separately if they are needed - once the forks are apart anyway! lol Going to get the forks out and see if replacing seals is straightforward, if not I will get a seal mate. I have done ...

Re: changing fork seals

To be fair, I haven't tried the 'seal mate' but really not sure how much of a permanent(ish) fix it would be. Slight leak on the seals was first brought up 2 years ago at the MOT (so seals probably are past their best) and I have already bought the seals, dust covers and fork oil. I think I would pr...

changing fork seals

Can anyone post the page of the repair manual for changing the fork seals please. Specifically looking for how the slider comes apart from the fork leg. Or if anyone has done this and can advise? Is there a bolt to remove at the bottom of the slider (which can be tricky from past experince with fork...

Can you get Redline Water Wetter in Australia? It improves heat transfer to the coolant if you have temperature concerns.

It was the guys at the link you provided Alibally. Thanks for that, although they normally make bespoke motorbike frames.

I should have taken the injector out though, as the fuel inlet has snapped off some time during the welding. Hopefully ebay to the rescue.

Many thanks homie. That confirms engine needs to run to bleed it.

Much appreciated.

Coolant change

OK, so I found this thread http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2699&hilit=Changing+coolant&start=20 , but it doesn't advise how much coolant is needed or any bleeding procedure. I have managed to get about 300ml of coolant in the radiator which just doesn't seem to be enough (ev...

Re: PCX125 Centre Stand

So I got the crankcases welded up at the stand mounts. One side had completely broken and whilst the other side was fine, I got both sides strengthened while the engine was out. Had an aluminium strip bent to follow the outside of the mounting and had it all welded up. Hopefully this will last but I...

Re: How-To: Completely Dismantle A PCX

If you've got small hands, you can actually remove the engine at this point for installing big bore kits or whatever else. This is the point where you can do a valve adjustment easily as well The ECU looked a right pain to unplug, so i left it alone. Just as an alternative, I removed the rotor and ...

Re: fuel lid

Remove the entire panel (3 screws once you have the lid open), clean and grease the hinge and make sure the cable is pulling the latch.

You may have to remove the seat aswell, but thats just 2 bolts.

Re: PCX125 Centre Stand

I support what Alibally suggests, only I might just remove the centre stand altogether so that you nor anyone else uses it by mistake. Any failure has the potential to be catastrophic, so anything you can do to avoid it would likely be wise. I am a bit OCD and want everything to be as it should be....

Re: PCX125 Centre Stand

Thanks for the reply Alibally and I have updated my profile with location. I had noticed that thread on searching, but nobody has mentioned if they managed to fix the problem (without replacing the crankcase anyway). I may take the engine out if I absolutely have to, but it would be interesting to k...

PCX125 Centre Stand

Hi guys, just bought a 2011 PCX to commute on. I wasnt aware of the cenre stand issue and having now checked, the stand lugs are broken. I bought privately so no comeback there. The lugs are still complete with no missing pieces at the moment. Has anyone had any success with TIG welding the lugs wit...
