Re: Unsafe To Use Yuminashi Variator With Dr. Pulley Sliders
Maybe the Forza or a Burgman then? The Daytona reinforced belt is available from Japan. I believe they charge less for shipping than Yuminashi does in my experience, but I suppose that all depends on where you live. Thanks but the PCX 280 lbs. is indispensable for me. I need to go pull the sliders ...

Re: Unsafe To Use Yuminashi Variator With Dr. Pulley Sliders
Yes, thanks Val, I have. Due to multiple leg surgeries I can't get my knees past 90° for long. Honda's CB300F is impressive but I swore off chain drive in the '70s. Thanks though. And thanks for the update as to needing more displacement to use the 45T gearing. Didn't know that. Guess I might aw wel...

Re: Unsafe To Use Yuminashi Variator With Dr. Pulley Sliders
First of all, thanks Sean. I read your thread, and you certainly are the trooper! I like the Advance Pro setup - I think that was Sendler's idea. I wouldn't say it's a "failure" per se. Just that the variator in and of itself already pushed the belt out to the very limits. Adding the Dr Pu...

Unsafe To Use Yuminashi Variator With Dr. Pulley Sliders
I see no other conclusion after reading extensively here on various transmission modifications, and now suffering a failure. 2015 PCX150 with Yuminashi Speed Control, 12 gram Dr. Pulley sliders, and reinforced Gates SB50026 belt. Bike has 5k miles with 4k of those on this mod. Yesterday, long ride, ...

Re: Yuminashi parts
I tried the Inertia Disc, unmodified, but decided that the benefits were far too few.
The high RPM torque is nice - but that's all. RPM spinup was like carrying a elephant. Even modified I know it would not give me what I want.
Honda was right to keep the variator weight low.

Re: Factory Installed Rattle - Solved
Why aren't you riding with earplugs And a helmet obv I do use earplugs! The airbox is nearly full of 'em. And while I'll admit it's quieter. it seems a little slower. I'm wondering if the plugs weight too much. http://i61.tinypic.com/2rw21rd.jpg Oh....And, I'm Big on safety so a helmet is a must. T...

Re: Factory Installed Rattle - Solved
With the rattle gone, and many miles later I got down and checked the cotter pin again - still tight.
But I think it was not the pin rattling but rather the washer that was making that noise. (the piece of rubber tubing is holding the pin and preventing washer movement too)

Too cool.
Maybe they'll have the 2015 lock soon for such a good price.
One can hope...

Might work. I'd like to hear from anyone who bought one, got it cut right and it worked, and, did not cause premature lock wear.

Re: Keys, Keys
Or keep the 2nd key in an inner pocket in your jacket Or maybe drill a couple small holes in the bottom splash panel and zip-tie a spare on top. No one but you would know it's there and the ties can be cut with the razor blade duct taped under the fender. I thought the keys were coded to the ECU - ...

Re: Keys, Keys
There is a couple of places where your key code is including on the bike if i recall reading the manual right so not a major drama if lost but worst case would be a barrel swop out but always good to take pictures of everything important :) Yes, I thought that too, and, before remembering where the...

Keys, Keys
Wanted a spare key to leave with a friend if needed, and tried to purchase one from a Honda site. Not possible. Not even a blank can be bought for the 2015 PCX. A locksmith friend could also not get the blank - that unique head being essential. Even the dealer discovered he could not order one. Said...

Re: Earplugs!
Mighty Plugs are easily the best earplugs (for me) I have ever used for motorcycling. They are slightly quieter than the Howerd Leights, and really help on the road by blocking the higher frequencies of wind noise. I can hear my heartbeat with them in. They are all natural and reusable. I have rein...

I can't really give an informed reply to that.
But this I know: Whenever the weather isn't what I want it to be - the dealer did it!

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
If it is a casting defect, odd that it showed up right after winter storage.
I wonder....
...would a dealership cheap-out so greatly as to not pay for the Honda premix, mix their own, and get the wrong ratio?
I mean; really! This happens right after winter...!

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
I see. I was thinking, gentlemen, that if the coolant had solidified then such pressure as could crack the head would greatly impact the water pump bearing and seal. I have experienced this in automobiles when the freeze plugs did not pop. Not an option here. Jim, I don't know what coolant mixture r...

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
Following along your timeline; that crack in the head occurred in tandem with the 'blown' head gasket - confirming that the cause was indisputably due to a coolant freeze, not a casting defect. What is surprising is that it might be near the intake valve. Normally freeze/thaw cracks occur at the exh...

Re: Need noise
Would it work if the hole were drilled, tapped to a known size, thread and pitch, spray zinc, then plugged?
then the plug could be pulled as needed. Say for those heady days at Daytona...
I'll try this as soon as I learn exactly where the hole should be.
