Turn signal running lights??

I see the non-US models have turn signals/indicators in the body. Our feds require the stalks. I get that. When I had a Genuine Buddy those lights were referred to as "deadlights" since the sockets were there but simply not hooked up. Short of buying a new headlight assembly, is there an easy, simple way of putting some running lights in there? I searched but came up empty. Thanks!

Sure youll need turn signals with a 3rd wire, 2 positives and a ground. One pos for the turns as usual, and the other pos hooked to your rear light positive at the back, and the headlight or drl circuit at the front.
Something like this (probably not the right style but you get the idea)

Maybe I misunderstood sorry,
I did it with mine by drilling then filing cutouts for 1156 bulb holders in the headlight rear and reflector shell. Not a quick job as the headlight has to be removed and split by oven baking or a heat gun, otherwise you'll likely have bits of plastic from the process stuck in there. I did mine along with an H.I.D. projector retrofit using 1156 LED cree spots to a remote on/off switch. See pic. From further away and at car driver eye level the cree's are extremely bright even in daytime

Thanks! A little hard to tell from those pics. I have no interest in the headlights themselves, just the lights above and behind the headlights. The place where civilized countries mount the turn signals. Is it a major project to remove the headlight assembly? I was thinking access to the backside shouldn't be too bad. What if someone wanted to change their unAmerican bulb?

I realise that yes.
Unfortunately the bulb sockets on US models are blanked off, not just on the rear shell but in the reflector as well. You'll have to remove the headlight and cut in for your own sockets as I did. Without splitting the shell it would be difficult in view of drilling/filing debris getting in there during the process unless you did the job overhead lol

It is a job and a half to do what k2 did, but it really looks good when it is complete. Unfortunately there are not a lot of us who have the skill nor the time to do such a great job. I would love to do that with mine. Those empty slots just seem so much of a waste! They are crying for some kind of use.

Thanks again Mel, agreed on the waste of space.
Back to the op. "Is it a big job removing the headlight".
It's not difficult but it is a PITA, as several panels need to be removed first. As for non Americans changing out bulbs, there is room but it's tight because the inner brace takes up much of the space there, amongst other duties the inner brace holds the top of the headlight shell, the flasher relay as well as the screen and upper cover (cowl) mounting points.
