I finally wired up the lights this past weekend. At first, I tried to use a relay with the Lo beam wire to trigger the relay (white with black stripe). It tested fine for 12v. Checked DRL's and Lo beam and all was working. Put everything back together and rode it. The headlight no longer came on but the LED DRL's were on and fine. Tried bypassing the relay and spliced into W/Bl wire for power. Same thing, no power to the headlights and DRL's were fine.
I then tapped into the 12 accessory wire for power along with a 10 amp inline mini fuse (used on the LED power lead from the start) and it worked. I don't have a switch to turn off the DRL's, but I can live with that unless I find a good waterproof switch that doesn't require drilling holes to mount. I have my eye on one from Amazon but am in no rush to install a switch.
I ordered a two pack of LED lights and noticed one is a spot beam and the other is a flood beam. One is 6500k and the other is 5000k. I am in contact with the vendor and hope I can get two of the same beam pattern and color temperature.
I used two M8x40mm bolts and three nuts to mount the lights in the same hole as the yellow fork reflectors. Note, I had to drill out the holes to fit the m8 bolts.

Looks like it was an excellent decision. At least for myself, it is not something I can put on my list of accessories because of the inability to figure out the wiring. Red is hot, green is ground, payday is Thursday. That is about all I know when tampering with electrical wiring, and I am likely wrong on the red being hot.
Good job. It must give you deserved satisfaction to be able to do something like this.

My first question is, we're those side lights (beside the fender) the ones you had tried to tap into the LED headlights With? The headlights on your model year (2017) are LED so they pull very little current. They either have a resistor or run off of a relay themselves.
Where you put the side lights is a good choice, and many of us have used the same spot for ours. Those look like Kawell lights. I have those on my bike. I purposely ordered one spot and one flood. I put the flood on the right side to show the side of the road, and the spot light on the left to shine ahead. I did not use a relay though I do have a switch on my handlebar. I didn't use the relay only because I could not find an appropriate line to splice into, but now I am glad that I did not. I recall someone on here losing their lights and skin if it could be the fuse. Imagine riding at night and the fuse Blows! Not good. How do you get to somewhere in order to troubleshoot, or even Home?
If you follow the route that I did, drill a very small hole through the toggle on the switch and put a large safety pin through it. That keeps it safe from curious hands.

These are all metal and not plastic. I used quick connect plugs too.

Take off the windshield, then take off the light cover underneath (front meter panel). The accessory wire is in the loom all the way on the rigth side, same side as the outlet. In has its own loom for a, positive and negative wire.

The Hi beam still works and used that to get home in a pinch.

Mel, A splice should not be affected if its for energizing the relay, then to ground right? The side LED's are the ones I've been using for this. They pull current and shouldn't that be enough to energize the relay coil so the lights come on?
If my 10a fuse blows, I can use my Hi beam to get home along with the DRL's. I am going to mount the inline fuse to be accessible with plastic pieces removed. I am happy to say aside from the spot/flood and terperature, they are working fine now and give great light especially if I aim them more level with the road.

I don't know which is spot and which is flood. I thought the one on the right (viewed from standing in front of the bike) was spot since the beam pattern is close to the bike and more pronounced than the left one. I could use clarification as to which is spot.
