Scoot Commute 7 - Scooter brands

Post by honkerman »

When it comes to buying a scooter, it's good to know which brands are best. Note that the list is not comprehensive, but more of an overview.

That's exactly what it is, yes. I have the decibel reducer in also.

It takes little time to install and it came with the graphite gasket.

Most definitely. It adds to the fun factor of the scoot.

Hi Paul,... you Scootin' Fool! :P Nice of you to make a vid to inform others about various scooters available (mostly in the U.S.) and for the warning about other not-so-great scoots. So thank you for All that good stuff!

Needed to tell you, and I thought you might want to know....
I've been viewing your flicks from time to time listening for the clarity of your voice and the filming quality. Filming is very good, color is great. Your dog? ADORABLE!
The Sound? I dig your varoom-varoom exhaust but I'm having a wee bit of a hard time hearing you as you ride. So I play some parts back. Your vids have definitely improved though ;) Fault must lie in several factors heh? The wind, the type of mic and/or its' placement/positioning? And your louder exhaust. A Louder exhaust is cool, and it can be heard by others but interferes with movie making. I get that. "Ya Can't have one without the Other."

I Gotta know....how do you pay attention and concentrate on your surroundings while riding and talking? I find myself getting nervous for you. I'm Crazy right? I saw the horse 'n buggy at 7:27 in your single lane, Whoaaaa little fella, whoaa  Did your exhaust get him upset as you approached and passed him? (over a double yellow line, tut-tut!) :geek:

BTW, You do look dapper atop your Pcx with White Hat. Itsa Great look! Yup, I SEE You ;)

Thanks WN. :D

I try to talk about stuff that will not only get people to watch, but be helpful to new riders as well as the more experienced, recognizing that most scooters are sold to novice riders.

The mic placement and exhaust noise have been a bit of a bugaboo. I try to do most of my talking at lower speeds, or at a standstill to minimize the difficulty. It took a while to find the perfect mic placement for the best clarity, but I think I finally cracked it.

I'm hyperactive and talk to myself or sing while riding anyway, so it wasn't much of a transition to just talk about topics. As for the Amish Buggies, it's ok to pass them even on a double yellow here in PA so long as there's no one coming the other way, and the horses are used to it. I try not to blip the throttle as I pass them so as not to spook the horses.

I love my white "Scooter Stig" helmet. It does grab attention, and that's the point of course. I want a full riding suit in white, but I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for yet. 8)

there are a lot of scooters--but only one PCX.

Are you still looking for noise reduction, or have you attained satisfaction thereon.

I've decided to live with it as is. I like the blaat my current setup makes, and am just trying to avoid talking when I accelerate.
