Not that you all need convincing, but for those who don't ride...

Good video honkerman - I would add a number 9 and 10 to your list :)

#9 The negligible cost of insuring a scooter - not even required to get insurance for a scooter in Florida whereas it's mandatory for cars and I believe motorcycles too.

#10 The (usually) much lighter weight of the scooter makes it much easier to maneuver around - especially in the garage.

So what happens if a scooter rider causes an accident or hurts someone?

I was wondering the same thing.

In Thailand I pay a mere $15-$20 per year for minimal coverage. In the US on my maxi-scooter I pay $180 per year for half decent coverage.

I pay about $230 a year for insurance, but I have full coverage and a low deductible, not to mention third tier liability, comp and collision.

As for being light, that is so, especially with anything under 200 cc

Presumably you'd get sued. I think some car insurance and/or homeowner insurance polices provide a bit of coverage for bicycle accidents but you would have to sift through tons of small print to know for sure and I don't know if that would include scooters???
