Oh boy....!!
My mean neighbor is trying to tell me that the Brit Situ is going to adversely affect the price of my morning Tim Horton's.
She's a dumbbunny as well as a Presbyterian. ......Tim is Canadian!
Scaremongering at it's lowest form.....
Remember...."contents are hotter than the beegeepers, use only rear braking while enjoying this coffee!"

It is a coffee & sandwich/donut shop that had it's beginnings in Canada. Time's was recently purchased by Burger King but the deal was structured in such a way that Tim's is set up as the parent company out of Canada so the US based BK can qualify as a Canadian company and get a 15% corporate tax break.gn2 wrote:What's a Tim Hortons?

TAKE NOTICE ... let's remember not to talk politics as per forum rules. This includes Brexit and the US elections.

This is Huge stuff, hard to not mention an focus on hobbies. Must be a good forum for more real information with people living it, not the news. If the world was on fire how can we talk about scooters. Anyone have a good link or connection to vent?

Maybe if we had an "enter at your own risk" sub-forum...but sadly such topics often end up making enemies...and that spills over to the other parts of the larger forum. Better perhaps to leave that particular bridge uncrossed.

How did such a homely Manhattan woman capture generations of old men and make herself a legend. If she can do it anybody can. I can remember only one other timeless musician that spanned multiple generations. Van Halen, that guy we loved haha!

There's nothing wrong with a bit of a debate about the shit that goes down in the world, but I feel that cultural differences even in English speaking countries can be difficult. I could write something that's perfectly acceptable in the UK but might no go down well somewhere else. Also if it's written instead of listened ,to the tone of voice and in some cases body language cannot be taken into consideration. Making a flippant comment that's not meant to be taken seriously can possibly be taken the wrong way.
We're all human though and emotions can cloud a judgement causing offence , especially when religion and politics are concerned, that's why it's frowned upon in this forum.
Dave stated this forum because the old defunct PCX forum was badly run and full of flame wars that were getting out of hand. We want this one to be a good place to be.
I was a bit out of order with Homie on a thread that's been consigned to the D and BS section and I would like to apologise for that. It's was the end of a shit day and the fuse was nearly burned out.
Thank you and goodnight.

I think posting/talking about our hobbies is a good thing, and we have an "Off-topic" section that is probably the best place for that. But as Ali has also posted, particularly politics and religion tend to be hot buttons, that when pushed, can lead to strong negative responses. And although I am one who has fairly strong political views, and even strong religious views, I would not be in favour of an "enter at your own risk" sub-forum on this forum.homie wrote:This is Huge stuff, hard to not mention an focus on hobbies. Some of us may not all like not being able to post about politics and religion, but it was a rule we all agreed to when we chose to join hondapcx.org. We don't own this forum and do not pay for it. Maddiedog graciously provides it for free. Thus, let's be respectful of his guidelines.
I also understand that there can be a gray area when it comes to commenting on news/historical events, but when we do, let's be careful in how we word our posts, seeking not to make them political or religious in tone. One example of this was the military coup that occurred here in Thailand in 2014, some posted asking if I and other Thai based members were okay, and we responded as to how it was impacting or not impacting us (i.e. curfews), but we refrained from offering perspectives on whether we were in favour of the coup or not.
