performance degredation - 4 years and daily motorway riding

Hi guys

My 4 year old (2012) 125 PCX has 30,000 km on the clock. I ride it to work every day, 20 minutes on the motorway each way at full speed. It's just been for a service and oil change (10/40 oil) and I've just checked the tyre pressures (29/33 front/back.)

It used to do 102km/h on the flat, this has degraded to around 94km/h on the flat. I wondered if any seasoned PCX riders would have some advice on this or is it just to be expected with the bike's age and how I use it?

Thanks in advance!

It could be the belt is worn. If the belt becomes smaller the topspeed decreases. It should
be 21mm wide or more.

Check the maintenance manual for miles between replacement of parts, such as rollers and belt. The belt would be the first thing I would consider replacing, but if the maintenance manual says that the rollers will need to be replaced soon, go ahead and do that as well.

Here are the minimal belt, roller measurements that keep your PCX running hard and fast. Years 2013 and later.

Wait, in 30,000km you've never replaced the drive belt and rollers? 1. Congrats on the long lasting belt, 2. Get it replaced!

Thanks for the info guys, I'll check out your suggestions. I've had the scooty serviced 4 times since I bought it - so I would hope things like belt replacements would fall under service umbrella. But I'm certainly going to check ... I have a Spanish manual and don't speak much Spanish!

You would know if the belt was replaced by a dealer :) unless it breaks and it won't no belt would have worn down below tolerance inside the warranty coverage and I doubt any dealer would have measured its wear, replaced the belt outside of warranty and not hand you the bill. You will need to lead them by the nose or look at it yourself.

Belt - rollers - sliders - clutch should be checked by the dealer and especially at 24.000 kms according to the owners manual.

Usually these components cause less top speed and other issues such as vibrations weird sounds etc all because of the poor transmission service.

Devnull where are you? Why do you have a Spanish manual?

So a new Forza belt is wider than an old Forza belt.

I don't have a Forza. Who is going to put a new belt on an older scooter and see what difference it makes. Approx 9.5% difference in variator effective diameter does?

Agreed there maybe a small loss of off-the-line acceleration as overall gearing will be higher.

Who knows Honda might be doing this anyway?

Well this is a first, never does Forza chat get into PCX ;) But if you were looking at belt specs for PCX thinking is was Forza I have to ask... are Forza belts thinner than PCX? Where might I get the correct belt for a 2015 PCX with confidence. I would like to have one on hand but know not where to order it from so's they get it right, no older model belts or goofiness.

Whence? I don't know. You need a 822x21.6x30 Honda 23100-KZY-701? Gates SB50053

It's odd that the SM does not give a part number for 2015 PCX150 drive belt.
Only the 21.6mm or 0.85in service limits is stated. Could I ask where you harvested this information?

From Gates Scooter Belt Application Chart I think I posted it somewhere on here before? The question mark after the Honda number is for the last digit not questioning whether the info is correct.

Been looking at several sellers tonight but it seems now is not a good time to buy a 2015-16 belt, I'm glad I don't need one and can wait until the industry gets this sorted.

Here is conflicting information from a reputable seller, yep there is confusion. I really can't understand why my own 2015 SM will not confirm the belts part number.

These people think your part number fits 2013

ebay looks really dicey, not giving any descriptive info... no faith in ebay and it would take forever to get in, and amazon has no match.

OK tomorrow i'll walk to Honda and have a look. I am not aware of any major engine change between 2013 to 2015 but hey one never knows.
