Indeed a beautiful scooter. I have been considering buying one. Seems like just the thing for long distance perhaps with a topbox. What are your riding impressions to date? How about a first hand review for us Forza folks considering the Big Burg?
Re: Traded my Forza for one of these
Well, this isn't the big 638cc Burgman, it is a 400cc Burgman.....121cc's more than the Forza. Maybe 65lbs heavier than the Forza and 1.5" longer wheelbase.Walrus wrote:Indeed a beautiful scooter. The seat backrest allows me to sit perhaps 3" or 4" further from the front panel....making a huge difference in tall man rider comfort!
7 way adj. rear shock and storage is nice, big tail lights and twin headlights.
Fit and finish looks good. Front screen works poorly for tall riders.
Not yet as smooth as was my Forza...but only 750 miles on the Burgman.
Step through is much easier on the Burgman. Good seat.
Dash not as easily read as the Forza's.
Better mirrors...no extenders needed. Glad to answer any questions comparing the two scooters.

We don't have Burgman here. We have to make do with Maxsym 400i and Maxsym 600i
Re: Traded my Forza for one of these
The Maxsym is easily as good or better than a Burgman.
No nasty shims in the valves for a start.

Re: Traded my Forza for one of these
SYM makes great scooters.....sadly they have few dealers and long history of parts problems in the States.
Plus they don't benefit from the long lasting bucket&shim system.

Re: Traded my Forza for one of these
I truly loved riding my Burgman 400. I purchased a Givi windscreen for mine and it made all the difference in the world. The Givi one is taller than the original one, and it is wider, so my hands were protected somewhat. I also put a large Givi tailbox on it which made shopping very easy. Those two mods were all that were really necessary to make it a great travelling bike. I could get on the highway with it without worrying about gas mileage or comfort, or wind, or rain. I only traded it in for my pcx because I spend so much time in and around our neighborhood and local area. I didn't need a large bike for local travel. If I could have afforded two bikes, I definitely would have kept it.

It might last a while before needing adjustment, but for the home mechanic underbucket shims as used in the post 2007 Burger 400 are a royal p.i.t.a.fish wrote:benefit from the long lasting bucket&shim system

Take a look at the PCX/Forza forum. Nobody checks their valves.gn2 wrote:It might last a while before needing adjustment, but for the home mechanic underbucket shims as used in the post 2007 Burger 400 are a royal p.i.t.a.fish wrote:benefit from the long lasting bucket&shim system
Not the dealers, nor.the owners.
Valve adjustment is not a concern worth moving off the stump.....and certainly is not a deal breaker, they say.
Except darn few asked before buying.

That's a lot of peddling to do.
The Burgman's and the 400 is a great choice IMO and I like Suzuki in general.
We have a brand new SYM dealer in town but it will take them a few years to get established IMO. Parts shortages suck.

I believe you mentioned in the Silverwing thread that you wanted to take your wife/daughter along, and I wasn't sure if that was at freeway speeds or around city/backroads.
Just thinking you might want something even bigger given that it's only a small step up in terms of engine size.
Re: Traded my Forza for one of these
The400 Burgman seems to be perfect for my little family.
I will never ride with a passenger on a highway......ride less than 1/4 mile myself on one.
I put a car body around my family on the highway.
Too many of you people are lousy, inattentive , impatient and inconsiderate drivers.

Re: Traded my Forza for one of these
When I had my Burgman 400 I never hesitated to take it on the highway with my wife on the back. It seems to have been created for 2 up riding because it never hesitated or lagged with 2 up. My wife's only complaint was getting into the passenger seat. She has bad knees. Once she was settled in though she loved it. For a thumper it had a lot of get up and go. It was dependable, good looking, economical, and comfortable.
