Speedo fluctuating wildly

Post by Scottish »

Not sure why this has started to happen but especially above 30 mph the speedo fluctuates anywhere between 5 and 20mph it basically flails about wildly...what could be causing it?

One of two things, knackered sensor or knackered speedo.
Try cleaning the sensor first and check the wiring, if that doesn't work change the sensor, if that doesn't work its either a new speedo or learn to live with it.

I believe its buried behind the rear wheel.

Sensor replacement is part of this: http://hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4373

Ignore all the gear stuff. It's a cover you'll likely have to remove the rear wheel to get at, two allen wrenches, and a standard hex head for the sensor itself.
Currently ride: Nothing right now - mostly mountain biking with my boys until they're old enough to ride

Many thanks, looks way beyond my capabilities though.
