Nearly a PCX Owner!

Hi guys, my name is Rich,

I take delivery of 2013 Honda PCX 125 tomorrow and i cant wait! I have been scooting around on a 2000 plate Speed fight 100cc for the last 12 months and cannot wait to get on my Honda.

It only has 417 miles on the clock so i think i will still need to run it in as well, apart from regulalry checking the oil, is there any tips for a new to honda / PCX rider you guys have for me?

If it's a 2013 model, my advice would be go easy using the Idle-Stop function especially in start-stop traffic. The older models could flatten the battery to the point of not being able to start again, whereas the 2015's have an up-rated battery and circuitry to check battery condition and disable idle-stop if necessary.
I've had my 2015 model just over a year, and besides a bit of belt/clutch grazing due to being too-gently on take off, it's been fine - great mpg!

thanks mate, i looked into this when deciding to get a PCX and to be honest, the running costs are that low already anyway that the stop/start function is something im not going to use anyway, and after you said that about the battery will probably avoid all together in all honesty

Thought my PCX developed a major fault last week as it cut out 3 times in traffic soon after setting off home. Then I realised what it could be and found the idle-stop function enabled (I never use it but the switch got nudged when me and two friends were trying to get the bar-end screws out using an impact driver). The screws did not budge but it had a 'heart stopping' effect when I thought something had gone horribly wrong with the bike

Even though your PCX isn't to the service interval for the first maintenance, I would still get it done as soon as you take delivery due to the age of the PCX. Do the first service fully as though it was at the 800 mile mark, including the valve adjustment, then go ride and have fun!!

i do plan on getting it serviced at 1000 miles, unless you guys think that i should do it sooner?

I wouldn't worry, it's only 400 miles and it's pretty difficult to abuse an auto scooter.

If it's already been serviced why not get it serviced when it next needs a service?
