ESP is an acronym and means Enhanced Smart Power.
This refers to the second generation of PCX engine which is supposedly more fuel efficient.
150 is a numerical value and refers to the capacity of the engine expressed in cubic centimetres.
The first generation engine was only available as a 125.
The second generation ESP engine is available as either a 125 or a 150

Hope that clears it up.

Thanks to be clear, does (Enhanced Smart Power) or ESP refer to the idle shutdown system on overseas models and what's left of this feature on US models? Or quicker answer might be what constitutes a 2nd Gen PCX?

1st gen = 125cc with older non ESP engine. It has idle stop on all bikes except US models

2nd gen = 125cc or 150cc with ESP engine. It has idle stop on all bikes except US models

3rd gen = 2015 model face lift version with 125cc or 150cc ESP engine and idle stop except US models.

If that confuses you, just know that an esp engine is different, and the 150 is an esp engine.

I don't think the forum header is helping...
"Your predominant source of information for the 2011-2014 Honda PCX 125, Honda PCX ESP, and Honda PCX 150" <which sould say 'Honda PCX 150 ESP' because there is no such thing as a 150 non ESP right?

And, then there's ESP - Extrasensory Perception. Grew up with that. My PCX motor has it too :D
(I couldn't resist).

No, eSP has nothing at all to do with idle stop.
In hardware terms all that's missing of the idle stop system from the US model is the on/off switch on the handlebar.
A second generation PCX is one with eSP on the airbox and no standard clock on the dash.

Yes. I believe every PCX since 2013 is ESP ragardless of engine size - only 1st gen PCX is non ESP (although someone will correct me on this) :) - don't all ESP PCX's have ESP engraved on the plastic's somewhere?

............ found it, no mention in the owners manual but one place on the scooter, the air box. I was beginning to think this was a term dropped from the 2015 description.
