Body Panel removal for Valve Check

Post by William T »

I have seen the videos and read about experiences with checking the valve clearance. I have a 2013 model and a service manual for this model. My question is if it is necessary to remove the various body parts that have been talked about and posted on this forum, when the service manual I have only calls for the removal of the bottom side panels. I know I will find out when I attempt this in a couple of weeks but I'm interested in any replies. I wonder if it is a problem of access or if the job can be done with the removal of the side panels only. This is on page 3-8 of the service manual.

If you are talking about a PCX, we have tried it multiple ways and there isn't an easy way. One of the members suggested a quicker method and we tried it...not as much plastic has to come off, but then you have to get your hand into areas it wasn't meant to go into. Ouch!! Even if you had no problem getting your hand into it, you still have a problem putting it back together without dropping something or misaligning the cover. What a pain that was. In the end either way took about the same time.

Thanks for the reply Mel and yes I was talking about my 2013 model PCX. I had the feeling that was the problem but I was wondering if it was a difference between a 2011 and 2013 model since I have never seen a 2011. I need all the room I can get since I hate to work off the floor or on my knees, so I will be following the advice given

I've got one in Thai somewhere but it's not much good if you can't read it.

It would be great to have Access to a service manual, even if it's in Thai. Perhaps you can let us know where can we find it? ;)
