Pcx variations

Post by Hondax2 »

I have heard people talk about a 150,125, what is the difference?

I have always presumed people are referring to the cubic centimeters but please inform me if i am incorrect.

Also, i think it would be a great idea if this site had a small WIKI section, which would eliminate dumb questions such as this. I know we have a search option but sometimes it doesn't always link you to the post your looking for

You're right, the difference between a 125 and a 150 is 25cc.
There was the original 125, then came the eSP 125 and 150 with revised engine, next came the current facelifted 125 and 150

All of the PCXs until this newest model all look the same. In fact, most of the plastic parts between the 125 and 150 are interchangeable . The newest model is totally redone. If you want to visually see the difference, use Google to look up 2011 or 2013 Honda PCX. Then look up 2015 Honda PCX. You will notice right away that the front left and right side pieces that are on both sides of the headlight have now completely closed the sideways 'V' between the upper part of it and lower part of it, whereas on the older models the 'V' is incomplete or open. Also, the seat and dash have been completely redone, as well as the tail light.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

You are incorrect!

There have been a few versions of the PCX...
2011 - Honda PCX 125. The original. Released globally. The Thai version has crappy headlights, and the US version has stalk headlights instead of fairing headlights. The models are the same otherwise.
2012 - Honda PCX 125 eSP is introduced. The new revision made slightly less power, and wasn't sent to the US for long (we got very few of these). The UK got a lot of em, and from what I can tell from across the pond, they still get these because of displacement restrictions on the most recent model. The body, chassis, suspension, variator, clutch, and fairings are identical to the 125. The engine (including airbox and exhaust) is different, and the final drive has two gears that are different.
2013 - Honda PCX 150 is introduced. It's also known as the Honda PCX 150 eSP, because it's the eSP with a bigger bore. The similarities and differences with the 125eSP are the same for the 150 -- the body, chassis, suspension, variator, clutch, and fairings are identical to the 125 and 125 eSP. The engine (including airbox and exhaust) is different, and the final drive has a different gear too. I'm unsure if the components for the drive, airbox, and exhaust are the same between the 125eSP and the 150, I have never actually seen a 125eSP before.
2014 - Honda PCX 150 gets a facelift. Everything is different as far as we can tell so far. They are not "in the wild" yet in the USA, so it's hard to check the differences at the moment.

Ok, easily done! As a new member, you have good input here -- where would it make the most sense to you to go, so that new members are most likely to see it? There's a lot of good stuff here: http://hondapcx.org/viewforum.php?f=15, but I feel like no one actually ever looks in that section because it's a bit buried.

I don't know how it could be done but if you go here http://www.civinfo.com/

That is a forum for the honda civic, it has a forum section and a wiki section , its very well laid out.

You could even add another sub forum to the main 4 categories for the pcx rather than a "FAQ" at the top of general.

Oh wow, that would be difficult to organize it like that -- it looks like they run both a wiki and a forum, or some cms that integrates the two. I don't have time for that. The FAQ subforum might make sense... I'll think on it some, and go from there. ;)

I really hope thst statement is correct. We still have our pcx 150 in the shop, waiting for Honda to respond to the dealer's request for help. The transmission parts have been replaced and the problem is still there. The mechanic suspects a defect and has sent a video to Honda as well as calling them. So far no sesponse. Meanwhile the bike sits there, undriveable for fear the same thing will happen again.

Disappointed to hear Honda are lacking in their commitement to get your bike back on the road. I keep hearing how Honda bikes are reliable and you can't go wrong buying a Honda - and ok, 1000's are out there without issue, but it seems at times Honda does not want to know about specific cases with end users, or at least does not seem to care if months go by.

If my pcx developed a major issue and was off road, I would expect it to be sorted in a few weeks, not months!

That's what's known as an urban myth.
If enough people spout the same (marketing?) bullshit it becomes truth.
Volkswagen were masters of it.

I apologize for my numerous postings on this subject.

t's also known as the Honda PCX 150 eSP, because it's the eSP with a bigger bore. The similarities and difference.

I am very glad that our bike is back on the road now, but this problem is a little more prominent than Honda would want us to know. I have talked to multiple dealers around our area, and though each only speaks of one or two of these problems fixed by their shop, when the whole area is taken together, that is quite a few problems. I have heard various figures about the percentage of pcx bikes that have had this problem. Even if it was as low as 1%, that would still be too many, but i have heard 15 to 20%. I hope that is not truly the case. It isn't the expense of fixing it that gets me. It is the fact that we as customers get to find and fix something they are sure at least some of us will have as a problem.
