need to remove headlight

Post by dem0nk1d »

Anyone have any documentation on removing the headlight?? yes removing the whole headlight, not the bulbs? I got the stock windshield off and everything else. But looks like i have to remove the front panels where the glove box is. seems like a huge pain.

yep, the front side panels are attached to the headlight and just about everything else up front :|

it would be a lot easier to give your pcx the same headlight treatment as that passport you did  ;)

Good luck with this one! :P

So to remove the headlight, you have to remove the front left and front right fairings. They are attached BEHIND the left and right fairings on the middle of the bike, around the seat... So...
- Remove seat
- Remove fuel flap cover / fuel flap
- Remove rear cover
- Remove rear "wing" that supports the rear cover
- Remove the taillight / back left / back right fairings (it all comes off as one unit)
- Remove the windshield
- Remove the instrument cover panel below the windshield (you gently pry it off from the left and the right)
- FINALLY Remove the left and right front panels.
- Remove the inner middle panel with glovebox (this one's a bitch, involves prying off the middle piece that's paintmatched, then unscrewing the back part)

I don't remember if the front left and front right panels require the lower paintmatched fairings to be removed or not... I know the black plastic parts can stay, but I'm thinking there's a screw hidden under those too, so I may have left out a step.

I'd make a how-to, but it'd take all day and be entitled "how to completely disassemble a PCX."

Too bad we didn't have the camera rolling when you showed us how to take ours apart. Remember, we had to replace the right front panel while we were tuning the bike. What a bear!

Yeah, that would have been helpful. I might be putting a big bore kit in my PCX soon, if I do that, there will definitely be a how to completely disassemble a PCX thread coming up.
