Thee Smart Way to do Valve Adjustments
Whoever follows the manual to adjust the valves is Wasting their time..
14 procedures to Get Too the valves, is so stupid.. Honda

So here’s my way.. said it on page 1
Pull seat n box out, disconnect fuel n vacuum lines, unhook coolant line, strap frame to hang, drop the shocks, cylinder head swings Right into view..

Boom ready to do the valves, in 20minutes.. don’t even touch battery and battery box, Tons of room..

So is the knock road speed related or engine speed related?

Petron Plus

Considering 20-30% of that in my oil
Don’t. At least not yet.

Higher than normal [about 160 psi] compression can cause engine knock/ping.

No Alterations
-stock-

Carbon deposits can raise compression level
Hence the clean out with seafoam stated previously

Reason i went ahead with a Quick valve check
Honda tech told me don’t worry about valves, put slick50 in it and sell it
(page 2)

My point- To verify cam center to TDC alignment..
and Both valves were a bit too tight

During removal of intake vacuum line i cracked injector elbow
So since buying that, might as well buy the injector too..
it is possible the injector face became damaged with fuel additives..

So we wait around a few days

Both really..
There has to be a Slight drag on engine for it to knock, otherwise nothing..

Accelerating drag Nothing, all the way to any speed
Even speed (anything above 15mph) knocking your socks off
Slight acceleration from even speed, stops the knock
And of course all deceleration No knocking

On center stand Nothing at any speed, until you even a speed and slight the throttle more then ya hear it as slight strain is applied, got to play the throttle to hear it.. on Center Stand..

Just Like spark knock
Can do Anything with throttle upto 15mph and No knock at all

Took variator off
Can Still hear the knocking with procedure written above, fanning the throttle for slight strain

It may be possible the injector was trashed with the fuel additives causing a lean condition when not under load, which is what i am Hopeful for.. find out Wednesday with a new injector

That’s detailed :D

If you took the variator off and it is still doing it then it’s not road speed related. It sounds silly but sometimes strange things like a stone in a tyre or a loose item can cause a knock.

So it does seem like it is the engine.

Thing is pinking doesn’t really sound like a knock on a small water cooled petrol engine. More of a tinkling under load. Could you do a sound clip?

To hear it heavy i have to record while riding, that’s not going to happen with This iPhone, not dropping this one.. Might try this (might)

I can try recording on center stand, but there Needs to be a slight drag on the motor, i Don’t have wheel rollers at a dyno shop to do this.. And I doubt the quick split second sound fanning the throttle will be recorded..

Non of this will happen anyway, until the new injector comes in

Lapeer Honda says they have my parts
Haven’t been to Lapeer in 6yrs or so, so taking the wife
out to dinner in Lapeer..

Grabbing another quart of HP4m, just in case the injector
does not solve the problem, and mixing up a fresh batch
of 20-30% Petron Plus mixed oil..

Been beautiful here in Michigan the last 5days or so
and all I’m doing is looking at a PCX sitting hear on
the carpeting wishing it could go zipping around..

It’s the only thing left I can think of
injector unable to dispense minimal fuel requirements

Not sure why you are doing the oil mixing bit. Leave that until later and only sort, not create, one problem at a time?

Petron Plus mix for oil
If i can’t Stop the Knock, oil will stop the knock

Replacing the injector, is Last item I will do..

This thing had No ignition switch, No inner cowl panels, busted up
grab cover with missing center, No gas cap, etc..

I rebuilt this thing..
go ahead and Look up ignition switch replacement procedures
All that was LEFT to do, bring to a recertification center

Then i changed the oil
Then i added the injector cleaner
Then it started rattling, progressively over 24hrs

The knock is either metal on metal or from detonation. I'm still wondering about a faulty fuel pump. With the additives perhaps something was effected? The Forza models had problems with deformation (swelling) of the fuel pump inlet cover (resin material) causing interference with the impeller. There was a "Recall" that Honda posted to make good on the deal. Ethanol does strange things to some kinds of plastic.

Makes me think of the movie "Motorcycle Diaries" when the bike was in sad shape and desperately needed a miracle . . ..

Junk..
still knocking away

Nothing Left To Do
just dump Petron Plus in the oil or Junk it for scrap
$2000 in the garbage can

But its got cool headlights

The wife asks, can ya get a price on an engine

Nope i can’t- no one is selling PCX engines
Nope i can’t buy all the little pieces, not spending the Summer
AND winter and Next summer screwing up the new wasted money parts
Nope i can’t- i am Not a damn Mechanic
Nope i can’t- i Don’t have the Friggn tools
Nope i can’t- i Don’t have the damn Space to rip everything all over

When I changed the Damn oil, something the Dealer
put in there wore off and itsa knocking now..

It IS Embarrassing

Sick to my stomach with $150 left in the bank

Shouldn't be embarrassed, but understand. Had wondered also,if previous owner put extra thick oil in there to mask the knock??
Would have thought that the Dealer would have some responsibility. Maybe you could take the Dealer to small claims court??
If he didn't give me some satisfaction.....think that would be my course. Wish You the best.

Depressed..

Don’t know what to do..

Wish i knew what these sneaky dealers put in the engines
Happened to an Elantra we picked up at a Second hand dealer
Low miles still warranty, Super quiet.. Till we changed the oil..
Non-Stop back n forth to Hyundai service

Shady bastards
