Lets take a moment and try to imagine relocating some folks to America and imposing our restrictions and limitations on their activities or freedom . . .
Very good point. . . :geek:

I only use a car when I need to. I carry what I can on my scooter or bicycle depending on the situation. It's like what did people do before the automobile was invented? Ever heard the term "Iron Horse"? I rest my case. . .well almost.

Each culture has it's good points and not so good points. Bottom line is as long as value is added to life on this planet we will be OK. In my local town I'm only one of a handful of people who ride year round (except when it's obviously foolish to). I try to think "European" when it comes to that approach. Occasionally I'll get the "Gee. . .isn't it too cold to ride?" routine from others and my common reply is "well it's very common in Europe". That seems to puzzle some because I think in one way they still think I'm the one who's foolish but in another way I just may have a good point. . .and not only that but could it possibly be trendy?". That being said I try to be a trend setter, not a trend follower. If I can influence more people to start getting scooters or motorcycles and give up the SUV routine and have a lower carbon footprint then I feel in some small way I've added value to the planet.

As an added note I've noticed lately there are a lot more bicyclists riding all year in my community as well. One guy has to pedal with his hands on a three-wheeler for some reason and he's always out there. . .hats off to them!

Somehow by putting up with some discomfort in life I think it strengthens one. . .both physically and in character. :geek:

Need no words really.....
Hope that guy didn't have to stop in a hurry!!!

It totally adds another dimension to the whole concept of flexible transportation. No way you can stuff another car in the trunk to take it to the shop. . .but a scooter. . .now that is a different story. ;)

Now one's got to ask just how many pounds of pressure are there in those bicycle tires? Do they have "slime" tire sealant in Vietnam?

When I sit on my "Shogun 3 speed" the tires already start looking flat just from my weight alone.

I think there may be a bit of Photoshop going on there. Although, if it is in Vietnam, there is a chance.

That pic makes me think that if it's a lot of light bulk then the wind would probably be the biggest challenge. As long as the load stays the way it is it should be OK. . .and allow some predictability in the ride balance. :|

On the other hand, if it's a heavier load and there's a lot of irregularities in the road surface then I hope his/her ride is just a short one. I wouldn't want to gamble on how long things are going to stay together with all that content. . .

Got to say I'm impressed. Quite a balancing act indeed. ;)

I made this delivery last April:
It had to be empty right?

Still an impressive load indeed. . .

Did you have to travel on a few dirt roads or were you able to do pavement most of the way?

Yes, it was empty. :D
The only dirt road was the one leading up to my friend's house. 99.9% of the 6 mi trip was on paved roads.
The two biggest problems were lack of rear visibility, and the barrel acting like a big sail every time a gust of wind came up!! o_O

I carried a Minecraft suitcase home over the back seat with a bungee strap the other day. In the US, it is surprising to see folks carrying anything but a backpack while riding.

I do feel like some of those guys are taking their lives in their hands, on the other hand.

Taking your life in your hands using a backpack?
