Wanted to ask you U.S. folks how you have your insurance, per the whole year, by the month? Annual cost ideas for full coverage?
Here in Michigan, we can start seeing snow from Nov. to the middle of April, so I'd think during that period it would only be for storage coverage.

Re: Insurance Premiums
I know that this has been discussed before. I am not sure if there was a resolution. Some states require you to have insurance coverage all year long, and you are not given a break in the amount you pay just because you can't ride during heavy winter snows.
I do know that we had Geico when we first started to ride, but then we switched to Dairyland after we had to sue Geico in order to get them to cover the accident. (The money still wasn't enough to pay the medical bills after paying the attorney, but it got the insurance off of its butt and made the man up.)

13 bucks a month
State Farm. Never found any company cheaper by online quotes.
500 comp
500 collison
State lowest liablity
25k UI body coverage each person, 50k total max
5k UI collison ( not that a 2011 PCX is worth that much)

Re: Insurance Premiums
Here was my problem, so watch out for it. We had all sorts of coverage, except personal medical which had a max of $10,000. Because the headon collision happened right in front of us, we had to make a split second decision. Either we crashed into the ongoing accident, which would have killed both of us, or we did evasive maneuvers where she headed to the ditch and I dropped my bike and rolled. That is what we had discussed many times before. She was the new rider. I was fully armored. She wasn't. By dropping my bike and rolling I went under the accident and walked away unscathed. She landed on her left shoulder in the ditch and broke it.
Now here was the tricky part. The insurance company said that since we did not make contact, they would only cover medical to $10,000. We also had our home and auto covered with overlapping policies. Our attorney had to take them to court before they would acknowledge that overlapping policies means they pick up on auto after motorcycle benefits are exhausted. They like to take your money but will fight you if they have to pay.
We also sued the guy who caused the accident but his insurance of $1 million was expended completely on the other victim. Nothing left of it.

Re: Insurance Premiums
Thanks everyone for your input, that gives me a working starting point. Mel46, hope the wife is better now and still riding. I certainly will not be seeking a quote from Geico.
