Re: volume scooter sales
in comparison total scooter sales in Canada 2015-3500
in the USA -35000
they are talking big numbers over there
1000000 million units over a holiday season
any body in North America just might have to accept that they might be small potatoes

Re: volume scooter sales
I think one of the reasons the US is behind in scooter sales is: Relatively cheap gas prices. I don't mean cheap relative to what the price here has been fairly recently, but cheap relative to gas price in Europe and Asia ongoingly for many decades.
Re: volume scooter sales
This is why we can't have nice things...
Honda Aus have already said we're not getting the X-ADV poser scooter.

Re: volume scooter sales
Another reason is that there's no point having a bike/scooter in an urban environment if you can't get up the middle of stationary traffic queues.flyingzonker wrote:I think one of the reasons the US is behind in scooter sales is: Relatively cheap gas prices.
If you have to sit in traffic there's simply no point having one.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

You might want you check your numbers. A trillion units over a season is unlikely to be correct

That's nearly more scooters than we have in all of Ohio!
Fishy numbers.

Re: volume scooter sales
Another reason that scooter sales in the United States is low and will be for quite some time is that people here like driving their 'living room' when they go places, despite the gas prices. I don't know how many drivers in big SUV's I have seen here who have a single child in the back. To me there is no reason for people to drive a Suburban or Tahoe or Yukon if you have less than 3 children. Heck, I have seen men driving to work in them, all alone. I am not talking about them driving on a freeway, but rather them driving on the other main roads, which have traffic lights and stop and go traffic.

I can just give you the corp side of the bike biz, we always were told it's because of the size of the us, not many people can just stay in the city like euro cities, and scooters usually don't do interstates....you sell scooters in the ne corridor, the west, retirement areas but so much in flyover states....

No problem - you just got on a roll with the zero key.
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!
