when should i give up on my scooter
I had my figures wrong b4 as of now on my 2013 pcx 150 I have like 1200 in her that's with new tires new belt and clutch bearing and valve adjustment. if they say it needs something else should I just give up on it? how much more money should i put in it if any? I'm pretty bummed

Re: when should i give up on my scooter
Apart from the known problem with the clutch bearings, those are just regular maintenance items that you will have with any scooter.
All those things are easy to do except for the valve clearance check/adjustment. Motorcycles need regular chain tension adjustment, too.
Some scooters/motorcycles are easier to work on and have longer service intervals, but it's something you have to do with any vehicle...

1200.00 for two new tires, a new belt and a clutch bearing.I would recommend that you find another shop.

Holy crap! That's dirt cheap dude! Total all in? You are in good condition cost wise right there. Considering I've sunk about 4 grand into mine total, I think you're good.

$1200.00 I agree that's pretty reasonable - around here the bicycle crowd would look at anything costing twice that price with disdain and they probably spend as much or more on high end doodads and maintenance

1200 bucks is the going price of for a 2017 really nice aluminum bicycle. Consider yourself not caught by the cops for stealing the ride.

Well, don't expect miracles in the time it takes for mechanics to take care of your 'stuff'. They usually get paid by the hour. Also, they can work on multiple bikes at the same time, so your time might get stretched out. However, on yours I would expect that it has something to do with getting the items they need. If everything were on hand it would take them about 4 hours, so I am guessing that they have to wait for parts.
Do not worry, your baby will be fixed and ready for you in short order. Being where you are right now it is good riding weather, but a week won't hurt one way or the other.

Why not ride yours and enjoy it rather than worry about what could go wrong on everyone else's bike?

It's a Honda, they are about the best built machine you're going to find. With any motorcycle or scooter there will always be wear items that will in time need to be replaced (tires, belts), and periodic fluid changes (oil every 2500 - 3000 miles, brake fluid every couple of years, flush and fill on the coolant after maybe two to four years), and other periodic maintenance items like valve clearance checks though Honda recommends checking the valves far more often than is strictly necessary.eggman wrote:is there any thing else that goes wrong with them/?
You're doing the right thing by having it overhauled at purchase, and that should last you for many many miles to come. It's just a reality with bikes that they need more frequent maintenance than cars, and their tires wear out faster, but the trade off is, they're still cheaper to run and a small bike is far less expensive to purchase.
You've only invested about 12 grand in a machine that you could easily have paid about $2500 for used at a dealer. You're way way ahead and I'm more than a little envious. Just wait until you get the urge to modify...that's when the money really starts to leave your wallet.

Re: when should i give up on my scooter
Are they fixing the noise in the rear area that you mentioned? Tat noise is probably the clutch bearing going out. It rears its ugly head at around 8,000 miles and only gets worse. With that problem out of the way, the bike should last for quite a long time, maybe even until you outgrow, which some members of this forum have done...sadly.
