I've mentioned it in the Rallies and meetup section, and maybe this will be moved there, I don't know, but that's up to the mods. Anyway, as it is every month, there was a massive gathering of everything motorcycle today in Ephrata PA.

Re: Ephrata PA First Sunday Ride-In report and vlog
I noticed in the video that some riders were not wearing a helmet and was surprised. However, my wife is from PA and I was just informed that there is no helmet law there! What!!?? With all of the wildlife on the roads there you would be a fool not to wear a helmet. Our nephew had an accident there and he had his helmet on but broke some other bones. Imagine what it would have been like without a helmet. He hit a big wild cat. Imagine hitting a deer, or some other big animal that wandered into the road.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150
Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Not an uncommon sight, no. It's primarily the cruiser guys who go without, and it doesn't make sense, but making laws against stupid is counterproductive.Mel46 wrote:I noticed in the video that some riders were not wearing a helmet and was surprised. What happened for them to crash ?? Seems odd two cycles down on a relatively straight roadway ??

From what I understand, they switched bikes (first mistake), and the 883 bottomed out over a pothole. The kid riding it lost control and swerved into the other kid riding his ZX-6. Gives a good reason to keep up on maintenance on one's suspension...and avoid potholes. Harley suspensions don't have a heck of a lot of travel anyway.easyrider wrote:What happened for them to crash ?? Seems odd two cycles down on a relatively straight roadway ??

Nice videos, interesting.. I agree with your comment on interstate highway driving on a PCX.. The PCX is just not heavy enough..dealing with wind , truck slipstreams, idiots , etc and at that speed you have to stay ultra focused all the time and and that takes the enjoyment out of riding. Not that you shouldn't always be focused but at that speed things happen ultra fast and the stress of staying that focused would diminish riding pleasure.
I think the PCX is a great commuter bike and best suited for touring at speeds 35-45 and for cruising enjoyment maximum 55 mph. I know we all like to push these things to their limit but in reality they work better in the slower zones.
