On the Burgman I bought recently there is a feature that allows you, by turning the key in the ignition all the way to the end of its range, to turn two lights on in the back that will stay lit when the bike is parked. The idea behind this is: If one has to park along a road at night the lights will make your presence known to passing drivers. Anyway, this feature is notorious for being a battery killer due to how easy it is to turn the key past the kill point which is one stop before the parking light switch--at which the key can turn no more. The problem is: On most bikes, and cars, you turn the bike off by turning the key all the way--thus locking the steering wheel at the same as you lock the ignition. And this is what you will be very much inclined to do with a Burgman that is new to you. And you will walk away from a bike that has two incandescent bulbs in its tail burning bright that will stay burning for as long as you are gone. I have already done this once and almost done it twice.

Apparently there is no way to disable this feature. People on the Burgman forum say: Suck it up and learn to pay attention to how far you turn the key.

What I intend to do, however, is what those folks have done who put leds in place of standard bulbs in their pcx headlamps--only I am going to put them--guess where? That way, when (not if) I again inadvertently turn on my parking lights and go off for a couple of hours or all night long, the burning leds will maybe leave me enough juice to at least get the engine to turn over.

I hope they are easier to change than the headlights on the old PCX.
If I was a delicate little flower, yet possessed the strength of an ox, I can see how it wouldn't've been so hard to do. Alas, I am big, old, fat and feeble.

Ive done this on my '13 PCX. Try to read as many reviews as you can about the "bulbs" you intend to install. In general I was satisfied, but the ones I got was brighter on normal position light than the standard one, and equal or slightly less bright than the original on brake light. The step from normal lights to braking was still visible, but I would have wanted a brighter brake light. With two of those should not be a problem though.
And it is rated to be about 1/7th of the consumption of the stock bulb - ehich in your case would be like 2 watts instead of 14 or so...

When I had my Burgman's it had flashing hazard lights. I never used the other part where those rear lights stay on.
As far as changing out the owl lights...for what?? Do you mean changing over to the LED ones?? That would probably be a task and a half. I have had my bike panels off and have taken out the headlight assembly, but I don't think I would want to even try to install the LED version because I am sure there are problems with wattage and maybe even the plug itself.

I just put in regular (non-HID) xenon gas bulbs. Well, that's what they call them...
I've had HIDs in cars and haven't been impressed, and the LED conversion looked even more involved.

I saw some 40/40W and 40/55W HS5 bulbs on Amazon, but they didn't ship to Aus.
But that seemed like a strain on the electrics running all that extra juice constantly?

Some people get old and fat, some get old and skinny--I am one of the latter. As for having the strength of an ox--well, if the ox is a baby I might be able to qualify. Anyway, I am going to see what kind and how many hoops I need to jump through to get to the Burgman's back bulbs.

I don't intend to use those lights either, except unwittingly, and it is disturbingly easy to do just that. Hence my dilemma.
