Import from UK

Post by lightpower »

Hi,

I am planning to move from UK to Poland and take my PCX with me (import)

As everybody knows in UK you ride on left side of the road and in continental Europe on right side.
Usually cars and some bikes needs to be adjusted to be registered in other European country

What would I need to adjust with PCX? (I am wondering about lights in most)

I will appreciate any help

All you have to do is move your seat and handlebars from the right hand side of the scooter to the left hand side in order to be compliant. I'm pretty sure Honda provides a tool for this in their well equipped tool bag under the seat.

It's a scooter...There really should be no adjustment. Just ride it on the right side of the road for the country you're in.

No adjustments required at all.
The headlamp is the same on PCXs sold in the UK and on the mainland of Europe.

gn2 - thank you - this helps a lot. I was afraid that to register I will need to replace whole headlights module which is quite expensive

Might be some differences in laws concerning driving, parking, mandatory gear and lane usage for motorbikes & scooters. Perhaps emergency flashers are permitted or required. You never know from state to state here, surely from country to country you might have some changes.

2014 (15') PCX's come with hazard flashers, but hey, most people can ride/drive any vehicle temporarily just the equivalent of MOT's/Tax, etc may require certain things (carrying a triangle warning thingy?).

A switch on the rhs bar flashes all four indicators - probably added to make the bike more european wide legal.

I love the emergency blinkers :D
Always turn it on when swooshing in between cars in high traffic to be more visible.

In the UK it's illegal to drive/ride with hazard lights on if your vehicle is ok, but hey, not much chance of being stopped in the UK these days - may be fine in Spain :)

People dont really mind in Spain, atleast from my experience.
It's lovely to ride a Moto in southern Spain, people in cars really does care for us on 2 wheels.

Since I don't have flashers on my PCX, I installed strobe lights on mine and am about to add a switch so they can be turned on if the rider wants them on. I am not sure if we will ever ride again, so if I sell the bikes I want to make sure whoever gets them will have some good safety equipment on them.

I took a Honda VFR VETEC bike from UK to Portugal. I just pressed the button to change the digital speedo from MPH to Km. That's all!

In addition to the above I reregistered it in Portugal. That was the difficult part. Hope it's easier in Poland.
