Permanently removing Air Cleaner Duct?!
I changed my air filter last week. When I removed the outer case, I decided to remove the little rubber 5" tube inside of the air filter cover. As far as I can see the tube only serves to take air from the opening and funnel it directly to the air filter. Anyone had any negative experiences keeping the tube off? The best change was the engine sound now has a deep guttural sound to it. I have driven 150 miles with the tube off and there has been no change in top speed or mpg usage. Thanks all!

I think, and I could be wrong but its more about water management, take it 15 miles in the rain and report back.

I tried taking it out for. A while last year and the air box got full of road dirt. I put it back in.
