170cc cylinder kit question

Post by Brent »

I know someone out there has put a big bore kit on their PCX 150, I just can't remember who! My question is what mpg reduction do you have compared to the original 150cc mpg? Is the little engine upgrade worth it? I presume that is done not increase your top end speed, as the rev limiter stays the same, but that you get to the rev limit MUCH faster?!?

PCXdemon (and maybe BPT?) has a BBK, and I'm pretty sure his fuel economy suffered, but now he can do wheelies, so...
There's Fcon devices that increase the rev limiter - Bazazz and Kitaco come to mind. But you need to upgrade the valve springs too.
The thing that stood out to me is that they highly recommended the 31mm intake manifold and throttle body with a larger fuel injector.
So I wonder how well you would do with the upgrade IM+TB+injector+valve springs with raised rev limit only? Cheapest way out with more power?

Do you want more power or higher top end? You can get higher top end by changing out your variator and rollers, but your base horsepower will remain the same. So, if you are wanting to do wheelies, by all means get a bbk. Maddie dog put one on his 125 and it was really fast! I loved riding it...and I had my 150. We swapped bikes for the ride and we both had fun. Then he sold his bike, so now he comes over and we both ride 150s, since my wife can not ride right now.
