Just an update after 75 miles this morning on varying roads and traffic situations; these shocks are a huge improvement. Most notably when the bike is "recovering" from a speed bump or pot hole. It is much more stable and in control that the stock shock. My pre-set is about 15% of the available adj length. Just my .02

wrap tail piece

Post by Jge64 »

So with the carbon fiber end cap on the Malossi exhaust, I thought I would key a few spots with 3M Di-Noc CF vinyl (amazon) . It looks great (IMO), if you do spots and not too much of it. And it's totally reversible, no damage done. The rear luggage panel is great spot for it. Need to re-roll edges with a heat gun later, but an easy 20 min mod...

Enjoy!

So the mother load from biker bitz came today, seat, trays, fuel cover, etc.... look for pics all afternoon. First up is the metal side trays from H2C, but the way they come are too blingy for me: and the polished base will be scratched beyond comprehension in a few months:
Image

So by ordering the "non bling" gray pads and application of the 3M CF on the base plate, we have something much more durable and more subtle, but still more classy. (IMO) Here is one side done and the other the way you get it. PIcs on the bike later today, after the CF cures a bit...
Image

This CF will hold up with foot scuffs for about a year, then it takes 15 min to put on new stuff....

Seat

Post by Jge64 »

Even with the change in the seat and eliminating the hump for 15, I don't sit far enuf back due to a right hip disability. This seat works. A bit lower too. It is the Bitz "Seat design 7" Here is stock vs bitz, added bonus is the CF design in the new seat matches my other stuff..

Thinking of getting the same exhaust you have there for mine. Do you notice any performance difference over the stock one? and for you, is the sound better, in addition is it not annoying when in traffic for long periods?

Its hard to assess perf increase because i changed sliders and bike is still in break-in. Sound is better, see the vids on youtube....wide open it really opens up. Around town it is quite acceptable. The quality of this product is first rate, well packed and devoid of any defects. Kit bolted up perfectly. Worth the $, IMO.

Just need to find someone in the UK who supplies it, and see if my dealer is okay with fitting it, or okay with me doing it in regard to warranty.

I've the stock one on mine 2,600miles in and corrosion has begun, this winter definitely saving up for a new one, and the Malossi just looks right :)

One last one for the night, the stainless polished fuel filler door. The piece is a stick on with the supplied VHB tape, but when you fit it, the tape adds height and the door is no longer flush with surface. Solution: strip the VHB in a GooGone bath, and affix to the existing door with a thin uniform film of clear GE silicone II. Now it's near flush and easier to get off later. This long term will be a diff finish, either match the footpads or CF....

Speaking of cleaning, if you are not using a rinseless procedure instead of quick detailer, you are missing a vital procedure that will make your life a lot easier. It cleans better than a quick detailer and does not scratch. I just the scooter in 5-10 min, the car in 15...... I have written this up before on another forum...Many products workt here: Optimum No Rinse, Meguires Rinseless, Blackfire Rinseless, they all work good, it's the procedure that matters:

Here's a mod I would not do again:(my opin) the bikerbitz triple clamp garnish on the handlebars. The piece is nice, but the stock clamps are nice enuf!...(ignore the missing bolt covers, just test fit the item)
