Best waterproof cover for PCX 125?

Post by RideLondon »

I am a proud owner of a new 2015 PCX 125. I'm going to be parking it on the street all day during winter (not overnight though) and thought it would be a good idea to get a cover for it, so that I dont have to come back and sit on a soaking wet seat whenever it rains. I've been looking at these Oxford ones, would a small one do?

http://www.getgeared.co.uk/HELD_9003_Motorcycle_Cover

I'm just concerned about how much space it would take up inside the seat, since I intend to have a bag in there as well.

Also, are these often stolen?

Thanks!

You know what it's like. These sort of things normally don't fold up as small as when they are new in the packet, so if if fits under the seat with a bag I don't know.
Small would probably be ok but if it's slightly big it's better than too small. You could always tie it round the middle with a bungy cord incase it's too big or it's windy.

I suppose if you leave anything lying about for long enough it might get nicked. Once it's a bit weather beaten there might be less chance of this.

Enjoy the bike, they are great commuters.

Thanks for the reply.

I am really loving the bike so far, it is just what I need. It is also a joy to ride.

I will probably get one of those covers, unless there is a better, more compact alternative. For example, can you get covers that just keep the seat dry?

Yes, Givi sell one the S210 http://www.motorcycleplanet.co.uk/produ ... eat-Cover/
Better yet, waterproof trousers.

How do you keep the stock wind screen from scratching with the covers? I don't see myself using one without some protection to that very touchy seemingly worthless part of the bike. I get its aerodynamic qualities but I will tire of babying it and a pull over winter cover is not possible without first a cover for the wind screen.

I have the Honda cover, like it a lot. My only issue is the mirrors are sometimes bent down (up at the top of the mirror stem at the ball joint) from putting the cover on and taking it off so I have to readjust them before a ride. I don't see any way of tightening the mirrors.

The waterproof trousers probably might be a better idea. Would you want to put a wet cover under the seat with your bag?

I use a Maypole 937 Universal Scooter Cover, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maypole-937-Uni ... oter+cover
gets great reviews and after four months of use is as good as new. Fits the 2015 PCX perfectly, but not with a large screen or back-box! - just as the scooter came.

Hmm... obviously waterproof trousers would stop my bum from getting wet. However, the bike would still be completely exposed to the rain. Now I know the bodywork/ fairings etc can cope with this, but the fabric seat looks like the rain will really take its toll on it after a while. I intend to keep this bike for as long as possible, and so I want to do everything I can to keep it in a good condition. Bearing all that in mind, I guess a full waterproof cover is the best way forward?

The seat cover is fully waterproof, no need to cover it apart from the water which seeps under the hump of the older versions.

Scooters are designed for outdoor use, there's no need to cover them.

The fully waterproof bike cover is yet to be made.

A cover is supposed to help with preserve paintwork during months of hot sun, but that may be nonsense, but the cover may go some way to prevent rust and other nasties if the bike was otherwise stored day in day out in months of rain, sleet, hail and general dirt sticking to the wet surfaces (blown around). We're not all lucky like those in US states with nicer weather and bikes that seem to look like new after months of riding - WN and crew :)

My cover at home has saved me three times in four months from the birds (feathered kind) as I've come out in the morning to find lots of bird crap all over the cover esp. the front raised section whereas that mess would have been all over the bike and handle bar/tubing area. Well worth it for that alone.

Almost. 8) It's called 'garage'.

But, yeah, I have two different covers and both are not fully waterproof. Still, they protect from elements in a way.

Hi Chigman, did you manage to get a JDC cover in the end? I've heard good things about them and I was wondering which size is best for the PCX - M or L? I have a topbox and I see that they have an option for this (some manufacturers don't)

Thanks!
