Re: Today's Quick Pic
More pictures from Memorial Day weekend. Still learning how to make them the right size. Not sure why the one of my brother is sideways - don't know how to fix it on my computer at work, so you'll just have to turn your heads I guess.
The youngest of my 2 older brothers tried the white scoot, chased my nephew and his 4 wheeler around the yard a bit on it. He then traded back to his dual-sport to really give the young-un a run for his money . Yes, whitenoise, the great white misses you - but did get a good bit of attention that weekend!
My brothers and 1 made an odd group - the cruiser, the dual-sport, and the scoot
Also some pics of the vintage half-track and armored car from a Memorial Day parade we rode in. My older brother belongs to a group of folks who do WWII re-enactments. I got to ride shotgun in the armored car. Way too much fun for one weekend.
Hope to get back there soon!

No work to do, no rain, so I took my cache mobil for a ride. An FTF was the reward for a few hours of geocaching.

Re: Today's Quick Pic
CaptnJim, thanks for the link to your blog. Great pics and a great report. It reminds me of a whale watching trip my wife and I took off of Provincetown, Cape Cod in 2010. We were on the afternoon tour. The morning tour saw 1 whale in the far distance. When we got out there in the afternoon, there were 18 different whales. We knew it was a good day of whale watching when we saw that our guides were almost speechless themselves. On our way back to the harbor the captain told us not to forget what we had seen and don't ever expect to see that again, it was not a typical day. He commented that it was the best day for seeing whales that he had experienced in 14 years of conducting tours.

Another great blog Jim. What set-up have you got for taking picture while you are riding?CaptnJim wrote:A day off and some Inter-Island scooting...

Re: Today's Quick Pic
From the "Kids, don't do this at home," file... I have the best luck with a DSLR on a strap around my neck; an 18 - 55 zoom lens. To get those "on the road" shots, I do shoot while I'm riding. Hey, it isn't like I'm texting - I don't look away when shooting. For the shots of my wife coming through the corner, I set myself up slightly up-hill, off the bike, and waited for her to come around the corner.kramnala58 wrote:Another great blog Jim. In the past, I have tried a GoPro camera, helmet mounted, with one shot every few seconds... way too much editing for my tastes. I also tried that with video... even more editing. The DSLR works for this purpose.
Most of the shots I post on the blog are shot with a small point & shoot. For full disclosure, we used to own a photography studio; I was a professional photographer for 32 years. Master of Photography, Certified Professional Photographer, Internationally Affiliated Photographic Juror (for judging professional photography competitions). I retired from that 8 years ago, but I haven't forgotten everything. These days, it is mostly casual "grab shots." Just like the scoots, it's all about easy.
Best wishes,
Jim

Been there, done that, doing that ... Thanks for the inside scoop. Of course it is not like texting ... if you are taking a picture of where you are going then you are obviously looking in the right direction.CaptnJim wrote:From the "Kids, don't do this at home," file...

Another day, another ferry ride, more curves, and pizza...
Off to America (that's what a friend here calls it when you go to the mainland)...

Put the scoots on the ferry to the mainland and headed north on some curvy roads.
A preview...
Best wishes,
Captain Jim

Motorcycle [and scooter] heaven - without my scoot :-(
Austrian Alps. Thousands of motorcycles, a few scoots. Not for the faint of heart - tons of blind curves, many without guard rails.

Re: Today's Quick Pic
My husband was born in Germany. Every few years, we visit and stay with his aunt and uncle. This time, they took vacation at the same time as us and planned us all a mini-getaway to Austria. My first time there
This is also the first time my youngest stepson has visited Germany. He is loving it so far - especially the food!
