Off the clock!

Post by gn2 »

Recently I wondered just how economical the Forza is.
I discovered that the economy meter only goes up to 99.9mpg so it went off the clock.
Trying again with it set to km/litre it managed 36.6km/litre which works out at 103mpg. (87mpg US)
The meter under-reads a bit so I'm claiming 105 :)

Nope, no freewheeling.
It was with a pre-warmed engine over twenty miles mostly at 5000rpm on A-roads with no stopping.

Those figures might work for advertising purposes for the manufacturer, but they aren't realistic in determining what the fuel consumption rate is for everyday use. My mpg is quite low because I ride exclusively in heavy city traffic and am heavy on the throttle. Twenty miles at 5k rpm with a pre-warmed engine isn't typical driving for most (if any) people when considering what the average fuel consumption is. It might me good for a 'best possible' rating but not an average rating with daily use.

The thread wasn't intended to be about real world day to day consumption figures
You'll need to look here for that: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/gn2/forza-300

I took the initial post as a challenge. Now that the weather is warming up, my mpg is improving.
74.9 mpg US is the best I've been able to accomplish. Non highway mileage.

I've just done 129 miles on 4.7 imperial gallons. Including some running whilst stationary over the winter
