Noises on our PCX's
So here's the situation... there's some noise coming from the left rear of the bike that I can't seem to decide if it's a warranty issue or not. The noise can only be described as a "grinding" or "belt slipping" sound that usually occurs under the following conditions
1) Bike is cold... sound only occurs within the first 5-10 take offs
2) Between idle and open throttle at less than 2-3 mph.
After I hear the sound 1-2 times... it doesn't do it again for the rest of the ride. I'm afraid to really bring this in because the warranty doesn't cover much in the way of belts or clutches and my local dealer wants $105 just to LOOK at it. What an absurd price to just LOOK at it. There is a local bike shop that I've used for small things that charges about $50/hr that I have NEVER had a problem with.
Does this sound to be more likely something that IS covered under warranty or something that is not. I realize that you can't diagnose based on what I've given you... but I'm hoping someone has heard of this issue or has experienced it themselves.

I think it is the clutch grabbing the clutch bell.

Give it some welly to blow the dust and cobwebs out.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

I always wondered the same thing but never bothered
Re: Noises on our PCX's
My pcx150 does the same thing. I think it is alittle belt slap. It only does this for the first 2 or 3 minutes. I don't think its anything to worry about. I have a 2 Honda Big Ruckus and both of them do this on almost all take offs. On the Ruckus form it is said to be normal.

First 3000km I felt same on mine Vision 110 now it is away.
I've already sold my PCX and swapped to NC750S DCT

Re: Noises on our PCX's
Although my problem was only on long trips, I had a belt burn up within the first 500 miles of owning the scooter. The first time the belt started squealing I took it in and the dealer couldn't replicate the problem. They also said that I would have to pay for them to open it up and take a look at it. I declined that time but the following time when it happened I told them I didn't care what the cost to open it up. I was confident that it was under warranty. It was, they found the belt destroyed.

Update on this issue.
This could be just coincidence... but after my rear tire was replaced the sound went away! I don't understand it, but I do recall the mechanic having a hell of a time getting the swing arm off! Like a REALLY hard time getting it off. After he got that off he threw on some lubricant and I haven't heard a thing ever since.
Like I said though, could be coincidence.

Ha!
Spoke too soon, it started doing it again. Oh well. The noise doesn't seem to have any effect on anything really.
