...Saddlebags...
For awhile, I have been in search of what I would consider to be the holy grail of PCX accessories -- hard side panniers (or saddlebags or side boxes... or whatever else you might want to call them).
Thus far, I have found two varieties that are awesome.
CUSTOMAX, a company in Indonesia makes them:
I have found these here: http://www.kaskus.us/showthread.php?t=6526898, but have had no luck getting the vendor to respond to me. I'm fairly sure he doesn't speak english. I also found a site with more pics (including one with a line of PCXes with the side box on), and a phone number here: http://www.mymotobike.com/article/read_ ... sedia.html
The second type, which is the type I want to find and buy, I have found a new lead on. They look like this: I found them on Facebook and sent them a message. Here's the pics from their Facebook page of the cases off of the scooter: And here's a link to the website they have as a watermark over the image: http://www.wingyap.com.sg/index.php?opt ... &Itemid=79... But the cases aren't listed there. I sent them a message on their website as well.
We'll see if they reply. I want these so bad...

Re: ...Saddlebags...
Wow, they look nice and hopefully can fit a laptop. My laptop just fits under the seat but leaves no room for much else and I dont want a top box. I may be able to get a stopover in Singapore in April on way to UK for biz and I saw this other company there when I was trying to source a windscreen and they may have other parts http://www.motoworld.com.sg/detail.php?pid=1354

Re: ...Saddlebags...
I think (or hope at least) that they could fit a small laptop. They extend inwards towards the bike at the bottom, so I think they will be deceivingly large.
I currently put my laptop in my backpack... I have two laptops (work + personal), a Xoom, a Kindle, and a whole bunch of other stuff in the backpack. The end value of the contents of my backpack on a typical workday are actually worth more than the scooter. That's part of why I want these so badly, it'd distribute all my stuff more safely than toting it on my back.

They replied... http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 403&type=1
According to Google, that's $1406 USD.
I want these, but not that bad. That's more than 1/3rd the cost of the bike itself!
Time to keep looking, I guess.

Re: ...Saddlebags...
surely they cant be that much...
I'd ask them if they made a mistake. Seems like they need to take a 0 off.

Re: ...Saddlebags...
i have been looking for some pannier type hard cases for mine, but holy shit, i won;t be paying that much, i might see about making some. i am quite handy with fibreglass
Re: ...Saddlebags...
must be handmade of titanium and kevlar at that price. Hope its a mistake with decimal point. Ask for the basic fiberglass version, unpainted (can then paint it yourself!)...

Re: ...Saddlebags...
I might try to make some myself too. I'm alright with plexiglass, but I might struggle to figure out how to make the hatch waterproof.

Re: ...Saddlebags...
$1400 ?! I think they're just trying to jip you. They have a monopoly on those hard bags (for now at least) so they can charge whatever they want. Hard bags for a rebel are about $300 (that's $150 / side).

Re: ...Saddlebags...
I'm strongly considering making my own now. I need to source some matching paint first though...

Re: ...Saddlebags...
Can you point out to Wingyap that you run a PCX forum and can get several orders if the price is right. I would buy them for $200 or so. I will be in Singapore in 2 mths so will try and track the company down and negotiate!
Re: ...Saddlebags...
I'd definitely be in at $2-300!

Re: ...Saddlebags...
I somewhat doubt they'd lower their price that much!

Re: ...Saddlebags...
When I google translate the first link from Maddie for the Customax, price comes up as $3.5 million ! Must be money to be made in PCX sideboxes. Also refers to a David Johnson as retailer for them but havent been abl to track down further.
Re: ...Saddlebags...
Ive been exchanging sms's with David Johnson on the cell phone number that was on the page Maddie linked to. The price of the customax sideboxes painted to your colour is 4m rupiah which is US$445 plus postage from Indonesia. Ive got his email address but he has no web site but seems to have othr PCX custom accessories.

Re: ...Saddlebags...
Phew, $445 is still ridiculous... They could mass-manufacture these things for under $100 apiece. Hell, I could make moulds and produce them for $200 or so including labor. I need to make a prototype firsst though. I've been trying to figure out how they mount, I want to have a mount mechanism that doesn't damage the fairings.

Re: ...Saddlebags...
David also emailed me that he has Gazi rear shocks for $150. And Im connected to him on foursquare - some sort of different social network that Im not sure the purpose of yet, but it does link to my iPhone GPS locator.
Im thinking all I need is a rear luggage rack then I can strap on my sons cricket bag. Kind of like baseball bat, wont fit in any top box or sidebox. The picture of the customax sidebox has a small access lid so I would be worried about getting a laptop through the lid opening. Anyone know of aftermarket luggage rack options that dont involve also getting a topbox?
