I walked outside and saw this

Post by logepoge1 »

Now these are domestic cats so I'm not going to hurt them. But what are some natural ways to keep cats away from vehicles in general. They like to crawl on my scooter and up inside of my mustang

I could fix with a cover which I have but also worried about car since their mother got caught on fan belt as kitten but was lucky enough to walk away with only a broken paw and quickly heal

That would do my head in. My cats sleep on my bikes and I hate it because of the scratches and the clawing of the seats

They don't claw yet. It is going in the shop my dad works at for a week since we are going on vacation and don't want it to get stolen. That striped one is the only one who really likes me. If I say come here buddy he comes running and wags tail.

I can imagine. They are all outside cats because they are excellent at keeping snakes at bay here in northern louisiana where snakes are everywhere. I start college in a month about 30 minutes away so I don't have to worry about these cats but I still may use my cover because there are many feral cats on campus? You see them in the bushes by every building

Well, I can't figure out a harmless way of keeping them off your vehicles. Have you thought about a Rottweiler, for example? .

Now seriously, ask a Vet. There's a chance that some kind of repellent is available, or you might even be able to make it at home. I'd spray it around my vehicles and not on them ;) .

I guess that would include rattlers and copperheads. And do cats keep them at bay?. I know they're good at keeping rodents at bay, but I never heard they messed with snakes, particularly if they're venomous.

We haven't had one die yet and they have drug snakes up to door. But we mainly have non venomous snakes here in north louisiana in the area we are. Our backyard is mainly sandy but occasionally we will see a baby rattler or copperhead that is dead but we don't kill the king snakes. They will kill the bad ones and are usually non venomous. I know I wonder what would happen if we sprinkled some type of strong powder, like cayenne pepper for example.

My cats are worse if I put a cover on. It's like a big settee and the claws go through

Big waterpistol would be the best but I haven't got the heart

I did a quick Google search (cats+rattlesnakes) and it showed up. Looks like they actually keep them at bay at that they have some kind of resistance (not immunity) to pit viper venom. I say resistance because it looks like they can survive bites better than other mammals but they can die if the bite is serious.

The kings actually prey on the venomous snakes. I wouldn't kill them either.

I would ask my Vet or try to find out what kind of smell they don't like, provided that we humans can tolerate it  ;) . Or you just might try this:

I know coyote urine would work since that is one of their predators. But I'm not pouring that around my carport

Get some lion dung from your local zoo.
Keeps everything other than elephants away.

I don't think that's allowed in city limits.

That's funny! Have you tried posting ads in the newspaper to see if anyone wants to adopt them?

I like dogs mainly. That's why our inside animals are strictly dogs. And I have tried giving them away but we have 3 black cats, 1 gray, and 1 striped and all but the striped are female so no one wants them. And since the striped male is the one who follows me around and plays I'm not getting rid of him. But we have two mini dachshunds
