Michelin City Grip II - NOT HAPPY!

I recently 'upgraded' from the original Dunlop TT900 tyres to Michelin City Grip IIs after reading the fantastic reviews on the Michelin website. Frankly, I'm disappointed! Both the 90/90x14 (front) and the 100/90x14 (rear) have a very aggressive convex profile. My PCX150 is now incredibly 'tippy', straight line riding is unsettling and lane splitting has become positively dangerous, as the tyre shape constantly influences the scooter's upright position. This was not the case with the original Dunlops, even when they were new, and I covered just over 10,000kms with them. I initially thought the tyre pressures were too hard, or the tyres needed to bed it, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I've discussed this with the supplier, his answer, "that's normal, you'll get used to it". Unfortunately the TT900s aren't available locally.

Has anyone else had negative experiences with the City Grip IIs on the PCX150?

My PCX has the original City Grips and they are very good. My SYM Jet 14 has City Grip 2 which are also great. I also have a J300 with the 2's and have no complaints.

However, scooter forums across the globe always have those who don't like them, in fact some hate them, so it must all be down to personal preferences. Michelin don't make bad scooter tyres but the tyre profile may well be significantly different to other brands. In the past I've owned motorcycles where new tyres felt downright dangerous for the first few weeks but, as others have said, just give them time and you will adjust to the new profile. Sounds lame but it definitely worked for me.

I'm seeing the supplier this coming week. I want him to ride it to see what I'm talking about, then he must check what else he can offer with a less aggressive profile. I can't see myself spending the next 10,000kms/9 years on these Michelins.

Used them once, never again. The MCG2's wear so fast and are no better than the IRC's or Bridgestone. I got 13,500 on the original IRC's and they were still legal, the MGC2's were completely worn in the centre after 3000 miles.
