Help with 2019 PCX 150 Rattle or Tapping noise when maintaining throttle position? (includes video)

Post by Fedner »

2019 Honda PCX 150 ABS

Video of my bike making the sound

I've been having this issue for a while now, and I feel like it wasn't there when I first got the bike about 2 years ago. There's a pretty famous thread on the forums here that goes on for many, many pages where the guy tries just about everything to no avail. Not sure if this is the same problem.

If you watch the video, any ideas what it could be? I'm loathe to tear the bike apart for a valve adjustment if it turns out not to be the issue. But anyway, thanks for any help or hints!

It finally got hot enough here that I wore half helmet for the first time since getting my PCX. Man this scooter makes some weird noises! I'm at 1,300 miles and as long as it runs fine I'm ignoring them.

My local Honda dealer quoted me $300 to check the valves. Since it's under warranty and I have zero urge to work on it I'm just paying them at 4000 miles. I don't hear anything "out of the ordinary" as far as weird noises go in you video. It sounds just like my PCX.

Thank you, that is helpful. I'm actually planning to sell this bike, but I'm kind of obsessed in fixing this "issue", because I'm selling the bike under the premise that it was well maintained and runs perfectly. It does run perfectly. I'm just about resigned that this sound is just "normal scooter noise", as everything works great... same great gas mileage... same power.
