Electrical Issue

Post by Benny »

My rear light isn't working on my 2013 PCX, however the brake light does work. A little confused by this considering it's the same bulb. I've also noticed that when I switch the bike on, the speedo doesn't always do the check before starting. Last but not least, the fuel display fades away when I switch the bike off, rather than just disappearing with the power. Kinda baffled as the bike starts fine, so didn't think it's the battery... Any ideas? Cheers!

The taillight bulb might be a dual filament bulb. Could be that the parking light filament went out but actual brake filament is still good. Check the plug with a fuel tester.

Also check the voltage at the battery to see if its maybe low and causing your speedo issue.

I have a 2013 model and can tell you that the bulb is equivalent to an 1157 in its function...dual filiment.
It is not hard to change. Just a bit of dexterity needed.

As for the other things mentioned, check the battery. It may be under charged or getting on with age. Cold weather will cause that type of thing with the battery as well.

Awesome, thanks guys. I trickle charged it last night, and it showed no battery issues. Actually one of the issues was painfully simple... the Allen key bolt on one of the battery terminals had worked itself loose. The light doesn't work still so I assume that's the second filament, and the displays still fade away when I turn the bike off however the bike seems more responsive on start. Will post back once I've changed the bulb to see if that's all it was. Cheers.

Not sure he can change to led. I bought a led bulb for my tail light but then strange thins started to happen, such as the brake light staying on after I released the bike lever. I put the regular bulb back in and all was well, so now I have extra led lights around the regular light. All works well now.
