What's the best glue to reattach turn signal on 2013 model?
Had this 2013 model with protruding turn signals for many years and never had an incident where they broke, until yesterday!! Looks like there's a screw or something that snapped, but glue should definitely help me out. See there any dos or don'ts when it comes to that. Thinking a shoe goo night be better, so is not hard and brittle?? Am I on the right track?

Made for exactly what you are asking… Remains pliable no matter what the weather or temperature, easy to mount, will last longer than you do.

Just keep in mind that the "arm" is a rubber covered piece of plastic, and once it is broken it is difficult to straighten back to normal. A broken one may not stay on if glued into place, due to vibrations. If you can take it apart you might try gluing it together followed by silicone tape around it.
You can buy replacement arms but the prices have become unreasonable now on the 2013 model...$82 per individual signal!! (No, they are not made of GOLD!)

It may be cheaper to buy an aftermarket set and replace all 4 of them.

Use urethane adhesive
It's like black silicone... Is the same adhesive that is used to glue windshields to cars. Many workshops use this to glue plastic trim to the bodywork when the clips are broken, including emblems, that mirror that keeps falling out of the case, etc
Is water resistant and hardens pretty nice

cheers!

Went with this choice. Picked up the 2oz container from AutoZone for $8, tho... as that's way more than I'll need for one turn signal.comecamino wrote:Use urethane adhesive

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone!

Re: What's the best glue to reattach turn signal on 2013 mod
FWIW I tend to agree with Mel about just replacing the OEM turn signal assembly or finding a suitable aftermarket substitute set at a cheaper price and just replace all 4. Vibration or shock from things like pot holes or other road irregularities can loosen things.
That said we all gotta do what we gotta do. I hate to throw anything way I think I may be able to use down the line.
When my turn signal stalks started rotting out on my KLR I tried taping them to hold them together and then used hose clamps with hard plastic splints. At the end of it all I had to buy new replacement turn signals. I did keep the old bulbs though for spares. The back set went first and then eventually the front set had to be replaced. I noticed they started to get cracks and weird looking after about 20 years but after that I was concerned about them breaking and hanging by a wire.
Just my two cents . . ..
Times are tough right now and $80 can buy food.
Good luck with your "quick fix" using the adhesive. Hope it holds better than my tape/splints/hose clamps attempt did on my KLR . . ..

two things
1- be generous when using it, this is not loctite epoxi
2- let it cure for a day to get full strenght
I don't know the usdm model, but have you thought about converting the headlamp to the European model? maybe is just a thing of buying the sockets, drill holes if neccesary and that would be all you would have to do to solve the problem forever

Let us know if it works.
My experience is that it rarely does.

Re: What's the best glue to reattach turn signal on 2013 mod
I think it's gonna work fine, particularly thanks to comecamino's 2 tips....you you wrote:Let us know if it works.
My experience is that it rarely does.
I ended up using a generous amount outside the stalk, because I didn't think inside alone would be enough (seemed like I'd get the same effect as glue on inside and that tape that was recommended earlier).
And I definitely had to tape it and let it cure for a few days while it rained... because 10 min. of new holding it wasn't enough time.
But I'm pretty sure it's gonna last longer than the right side will!! Just took my first 15-20 mile trip today. Will make return trip tonight. Don't think I'll have a problem with it. $8 + 15 min. of work (less had I used the tape off the bat) was well worth it.

Re: What's the best glue to reattach turn signal on 2013 mod
After 60 miles or so at ~70mph as much as possible, I can safely say there's NO WAY this thing is coming off from riding alone. Another knock like the one that took it off, however... I definitely believe it'll do better than that one, little, lone screw that's holding on the right side.
I'm sure I'll find more uses for this weather stripping adhesive in the future, as well. Thanks for the tip, comecamino!!
