7°F ~ so remembering April rides
[/url]
I forget (was still drinking heavily last spring...) but I think this was the day I was working on a vegetarian throttle lock, or might have been the day I had that Flash-Back & rode my scooter through Krogers.

Just over the mark . . . early May.
The lawn felt like concrete this morning when I went to feed the birds.

Re: 7°F ~ so remembering April rides
7°... ??? Like, seven degrees F??? What?? Glad I live in the South!! I thought 20° was bad, and that didn't last long. Right now it is 45° and raining. That is sort of a norm around here in the winter.
Just as a note: we rent our house because of my medical costs (can't own any property in order to qualify for financial assistance on my cancer drugs), and some areas we have lived in can be a mile away from where the rain and bad weather are, but we would have sunny conditions. Very strange weather patterns here.

I hope everyone enjoys their holidays and won't try to sing like Julie Andrews did. It just won't sound as good.
(OK, here is one for your imagination. A bunch of drunks in a bar trying to sing 'The Sound of Music'.)

Still trying to figure out how Julie Andrews managed to sing in a mountain alpine setting without being eaten alive by bugs?
My early years were spent in the bush and on top of mountains and no one tried to sing like her.
That's why we invented rock and roll.

Garage bands were everywhere . . . the future was ours!.That's why we invented rock and roll.
BTW your photo makes me think of Bush Beer. The picture on the cans is very similar.

If I were climbing those hills I think I would be a bit out of breath. ...and why didn't they get scratched up by the bushes, and bitten by the bugs?!

The bushes could be the least of the problems . . ..If I were climbing those hills I think I would be a bit out of breath. ...and why didn't they get scratched up by the bushes, and bitten by the bugs?!
But not to worry . . . just have good situation awareness, don't walk under a ladder, and carefully choose where to take a break.

Is this on your property? What the heck happened? the tree's roots (they look like toes) just gave way?
Walking through the country, we just never know. We never think of this happening, do we?
We walk, and we enjoy

I took the pics back in 2012 on a trail in one of the town parks. Is this on your property? What the heck happened? the tree's roots (they look like toes) just gave way?
Remnants of "Storm Sandy" . . ..
Here's another pic where two went down. There was a lot of downed trees. Almost looked more like a tornado went through.

Old Grinner,
I noticed on the 3rd picture that there is a path under that tree. I think that would require someone's immediate response so that the tree won't fall on someone.

Re: 7°F ~ so remembering April rides
Good point!Old Grinner,
I noticed on the 3rd picture that there is a path under that tree. I think that would require someone's immediate response so that the tree won't fall on someone.
The tree fell into some heavy duty branches on a tree across the path. That's why it leaned like that and never fell to ground. It was actually quite secure . . . fell into a big letter "Y".
That year 2012 was a recovery year for a lot of people from that major storm Sandy. A lot of flooding and storm damage. A lot of public resources were very busy.
I only walked that path a couple of more times shortly after the pics were taken and never went back because my schedule at home had gotten kind of a hectic.
So I'm confident the town (or some organization) has since tended to the situation. I'll have to go back one of these days for a "look see" and take a hike down memory lane. I've been meaning to get back into the hiking thing since I retired but just had too much stuff on my list. And honestly I've found taking rides on the scooters has been the high point of each day now.
The following pics should give you an idea of how the coast was effected and include some good helicopter pics . . ..

Re: 7°F ~ so remembering April rides
Those look like Blackhawk helicopters. There must be a base around there somewhere. When I was in the Coast Guard we flew the coast every morning to make sure everything was OK. After hurricanes we spent quite awhile checking and rechecking shorelines daily. Things can change quickly. You never know what to expect after a hurricane.
