Luckily, I work outside... So I have to dress for the outside anyway. Dressing for the PCX ensures I'm nice and toasty all day long.
Regular shirt and underwear.
Two layers of thermal shirts and pants.
Sweatshirt + down jacket & jeans.
Balaclava face mask.
Ski gloves with thinsulate lining.
Two pair of socks with composite toe boots (gotta be warmer than steel toes!! .... never actually had steel toes, tho)
I can ride below freezing easily with this. 29 degrees would be no problem, but to be safe I'll probly put a 3rd layers of thermals on to be safe with wind chill around 20 degrees.
I used to ride until the temps dropped below 55 or 50 at the coldest. Then one day I decided I'd layer up to see how could I could really handle it. Doesn't take that many extra layers from what I'm already wearing... Really just a couple more minutes in the morning, but I'm warmer (more comfortable) all day long.
