Honda PCX 2018 Thailand (not electric, nor hybrid)
So, the new Hybrid and the electric PCX won't be available here anytime soon..
Instead Honda rehas the PCX with a few changes..(meh)
Changes:
Full digital speedometer.
Useless welcome light (wtf?)
New design LED headlight and taillight (meh)
Mitchellin tires instead of IRC
Price approx $2500
no ABS, disappointing..
So, i guess we will not be seeing the new electric and Hybrid PCX anytime soon..

I wish Honda had been a bit less conservative with the dash. The 2017 analogue is really sharp, this seems a bit less so.

Styling, I like it. Sporting New alloy wheels with Michelins. Finally! Check. City Grips?
New led headlight, tail and dash. Check. Cool.
A Welcome light? That is different. Better idea if we have the option of keeping it on - say, for night visibility.
Dreaming this: how about hardware instead of plastic clips everywhere. I don't give a hoot about the extra ounce(s) it might add! The ease of removing panels is more important to me. Whatever, ain't happening. Sigh.
It appears the seat remains the same.
No ABS...again, oh well.
What colors offered? Better have White
There's more than meets the eye in this video, one will have to see it up close and personal to appreciate updates. Then Changes will pop.
USA pricing will Pop too! As in upwards of $3,500
Either way, I'm anxious to see it on the floor!
Thanks for the update and vid Alex

Dif specs determined by market share and competition of features in that region.

The Yamaha NMAX and Aerox 155, which is the PCX's main competitor here, is already equipped with ABS. Plus it's cheaper.Jge64 wrote:Dif specs determined by market share and competition of features in that region.
Make sense for Honda to give the PCX the ABS, but they didn't. They put a useless welcome light instead.

Re: Honda PCX 2018 Thailand (not electric, nor hybrid)
It’s not just the competition, it’s how well things are selling. Obviously Honda does not feel that those features are increasing sales. It’s all about business. It’s about holding market share in a region for the minimum amount of money spent on a product and keep the operating margin strong. Sometimes having a great seller doesn’t mean that you’re going to get the best feature set. I was in product planning for Kawasaki for several years and things that we wanted in the United States, Japan shut down because they felt it would increase sales, but would increase a cost.

TYPO, Last line should read:
because they felt it would NOT increase sales, but would increase cost.

Well, only time will tell if Honda is right. Yamaha is now slowly stealing their market dominance here.

Perhaps Honda should ask their customers, ones that have supported them, what features they would like, perhaps from a short list. ABS would be one many would request - indeed, anything that increases safety is a good thing.

Re: Honda PCX 2018 Thailand (not electric, nor hybrid)
Agreed, however the public is greedy, they want more features but don’t want the price to increase. I have gone to several focus groups that the manufactures hold with owners of competitive machines, and their own machines. And when a feature comes up they want, the moderator will always ask “And what you would you be willing to pay for that feature?”iceman wrote:Perhaps Honda should ask their customers, ones that have supported them, what features they would like, perhaps from a short list. Re: Honda PCX 2018 Thailand (not electric, nor hybrid)
It would have been nice if they equipped an LED light in the underseat storage area that could have an "automatic on" feature when you lift the seat.
Something like what they use on car hoods for night illumination to check the oil or wiper wash or whatever. The link below is an after market example for cars.
https://www.amazon.com/Check-Auto-Under ... ght+switch
The welcome light still puzzles me. . .it's not like an entry light for stepping into a car. It would be interesting to know what Honda was thinking when they added that. They surely must have had a good reason.

The only thing I like about the welcome white is now you have an ignition on source for other accessories you might want to add and you can splice into it looks like it’ll be easy to get to.

I love the welcome light, that's pretty trick with remote ignition. I may add that to Squirrel's ride.

The one in the Ad didn't mention any ABS for Thai market. Indonesia PCX 2018 has ABS though..
