Paints cured enough... woot!

Learned plenty about paint on this venture

1. good primers are critical
2. avoid clear coating as it cheapens the look (that's what I hear) plus you can't rub out mares and light scratches in the future so NO clear coat on this bike.
3. cure time is a month... grueling punishment
4. rocker cover wrinkle paint is fantastic for all your other bits

Sorry my phone camera cannot capture actual neon finishes in daylight and its overcast today so I thought it would be a better shoot I'm not a photographer so I don't know why but the distortion off this sublime green won't behave in the daylight for a lens. The best image of the finish is the shaded front fender... weird.

Stupid question but can you do a short vid of the thing running. . .want to hear it . . .not too long though. . .don't want the engine heat to hurt the paint.

Does this mean the PCX will be put to pasture in a corner of the garage to live it outs it's remaining days as just a conversation piece at parties?

Finished at 3am this morning because I was just to close to stop, you know how that goes. Of course the PCX took all the miles since the Buell tear down began. While waiting for paint to dry many new parts like cables and brake 'PADS' were installed. With the engine rebuilt the odometer has effectively been reset. Getting all the little things refreshed feels good but I'm sleepy.

I know better than to mount that rocket if I'm not well rested and alert so it sits pretty for another day then I get to bed in the new pads. Now the Honda is dirty and needs a little TLC, just can't do all nighters like I used to

There's that creepy feeling after major maintenance and new parts. Did I forget something, are my torques correct, am I getting too old and forgetful to be messing with speed. Lets ride PCX you'll just sleep better at night

Yes white rims are gorgeous but monk me out after about three rides out. I found keeping good product on them helps brake dust and muffler soot wipe off easily.

The Buell's a trophy bike to be handed down to my son when i'm done petting it. I do take it out about half as much as the PCX but always end up on the expressway going too fast

Yes I will do a start up video and maybe this drive by vid I did on the honda would be fun too.

Thanks, I put a breather re-route this go round. The thought of letting engine blow by or oil mist enter the intakes after what I saw when I replaced pistons was enough for me to un-green. There is no connection from the PVC valves to the velocity stack anymore. The crankcase will breath through this little filter and any dribble ends up in that hose with this brass fitting. After a few miles I drain the dribble. But with the new rings there is little or none to drain I spent hours polishing plates or replacing bolts, most are chrome now.

I also disagree. Clear coat is the best way for gloss, durability and repair. If right products are used clear coat system is clearly the best way to go..

I see cars in our own neighborhood that have lost their clear coat, and they look really weathered. Definitely do a clear coat for durability and in depth beauty...though your paint job is beautifully done. Consider a clear coat for longevity. It is such a nice looking bike that you don't want to have to paint it again at some future date.

I appreciate the concern, garage kept, hand rubbed with compounds and wax is just a far more beautiful and quality dept of custom paint. If I was to coat over this with clear it COULD be less. Since I can opt for this anytime in the future and I don't intend to be green always (kept all the yellow skin and can switch out in 30 mins) I will hold on the clear coats

Great job! My PCX never looked that clean from new at the dealers - really, it was covered with hand marks when I rode it way. That would be a thief magnet in scum-ridden UK, it looks gorgeous.
