Windshield height
I am wondering if it would be worth the time/expense to change out my Honda windshield for a tall Givi or other windshield. I measured mine and from the top to the handlebars to(between the 4 bolt clamps) measures 16 inches. I have noticed that some of the Givi windshields also protrude out to keep wind and rain from your hands when riding. That is what I am looking for, some protection from the wind and maybe a little less wind on my helmet as I am going down the highway.
Anyone care to measure their tall Givi windshields and let me know what they measure? I did a search but didn't find exactly what I was looking for, the height of the tall shield.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Windshield height
On a slightly different topic, the best thing EVER that I did to my PCX was to add a pair of heated grips. I don't mind hands that get a bit wet through the gloves so long as they're warm

Re: Windshield height
The first windshield that I put on my wife's PCX was the mid height one, but she was not happy with it when we were on the road. The wind would hit her somewhere between her chest and her neck...and she is only 5 ft. tall. I ended up making an add on piece that extended the height to the top of her helmet. That worked out well enough until we purchased and installed the tall Givi windshield. Then when I traded my Burgman in for a PCX as well, I ordered a tall windshield for mine too. I have never regretted it. However, I do know that there are opinions about which, if any, windshield to install. My suggestion would be, if you are riding in various weather conditions then you need protection from the wind and cold.

Re: Windshield height
So Mel, what is the measurement from the top of your windshield to the center of the handlebars? Also I can't tell from pictures if there is an area to the sides that protects your hands from the wind when riding. A straight on picture is what I am looking for along with the height measurement.

Re: Windshield height
Hi hondamatic, I see you have a 2017 model. I checked Revzilla for measurements on a Tall PCX Givi screen. Here's what I found: (Scroll down to features once you're there) https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/giv ... gKisvD_BwE
I Hope that helps

Re: Windshield height
Oh wait, you wanted from the top of the handlebars. Sorry I have the stock screen on mine and you don't need that measurement.
Can a member with a 2017 Givi tall screen help please?

Re: Windshield height
Keep in mind that some of the tall windshields do not come out to cover the handlebar area like the Givi ones do, so different manufacturers are aiming at different audiences. Consider what you want it to do. Get the measurements. Then read the specs to see if it is wide enough for what you want.
As an example, the National Cycle windshield is narrower than the Givi one, even by their own specs.

Re: Windshield height
Thanks you you, mine is 16-1/4 same measurement. I am looking for wind protection or deflection for my hands and I figured that some windshields that are wider might deflect enough wind and rain from my hands. I thought that the tall Givi windshield had such a deflection as well as being taller to deflect over your head. My Honda windshield deflects over my head well enough now I will work on the hands and see what I can come up with.
I am going to look into heated grips or mittens that go over the grips for cold weather.

Re: Windshield height
I had heated grips fitted to mine - would do it again in a heartbeat. On high they actually get too hot after about 10 minutes - with heavy gloves on, mid winter.hondamatic wrote: I am going to look into heated grips or mittens that go over the grips for cold weather.

For hand protection, this is what I built for my wife's bike, though we no longer ride in the winter. They aren't hard to make.

Re: Windshield height
I have seen that blog Mel and had forgotten about it. I will see what I can come up with. I think I'll try that and see what I can do. If I like it I will post a picture or two if I can can remember to take pics as I construct it.Mel46 wrote:For hand protection, this is what I built for my wife's bike, though we no longer ride in the winter.
