Hello from Switzerland

Post by HIAO »

Good evening from Geneva.

I'm a 40'something office worker who just bought my first scooter to beat the lousy morning traffic. This is it. A 2013 PCX 125.

It's had a slow start in life. It was bought new by a colleague, who used it for a year, before he got a bigger bike and then ran it once a week or so before leaving it in a corner of his garage for the last year.

It's just been recommissioned by Honda-Geneve. It had the fluids changed, needed a new battery and tyres and some other bits. It also had its 4,000km service.

It's my new best friend. It has turned a 70 minute each way commute into 24 minutes. My biggest regret is not getting a scooter sooner.

I originally intended to buy a Honda Vision 110. I rented one first and discovered it's too small for me.

The helmet in the photo belongs to my little 'un who loves the scooter more than I do.

Welcome to the forum, and I am sure that you will find your pcx to be a great little scooter. I can't see the seat you have but if it is the original you would benefit greatly if you would either have it modified by de-humping it, or purchasing a custom seat from Thailand. Also get a Givi tall windshield. It will keep bad weather off of you. I have 2 2013 pcx's and both have been modified extensively, including the previously mentioned items plus replacement shocks. Now they ride like they should, and long commutes are fine.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Welcome to the forums. Thanks for the pic and the background story. You certainly can't complain when you knock 65% off of the morning commute time.

For future posts, it would be helpful if you could also include your location as a part of your profile. It can help us to help you better when you have questions.

Thanks. You have to look really carefully at the low resolution, crappy underground car park photo I posted to see the tall windshield. It's not a Givi, I'll have to check and post up the manufacturer.

I've seen some phenomenal seats on this forum. Some are quite literally works of art.

Sweet! Love the Bagster leg warmer. I've never seen one on a PCX before. I have a Tucano Urbano Thermoscud on my Forza and it works great. Another fine part of my commitment to a life of luxury..

Happy Trails and welcome!

Whomever the manufacturer may be, it is always good to have a windshield that actually works. Aside from the seat, it looks like you are set for some enjoyable riding. When it starts getting cold, if you ride to work on your scooter, consider hand warmers or some kind of wind protection for your hands. Some of the forum members who live on that side of the big pond have better ideas than I do of how to commute warmly. They do it a lot more than I would, especially this in the U.K., who seem to love to ride in the rain...or maybe they just love to ride and that is all there is, except snow, wind, cloudy conditions, more rain...look, its the sun!...never mind, it was a plane with its landing lights on.

A few pics from the commute.

This is the view from my office. It's a unique location.

This one's cheating. I took little legs on the scooter to Nyon one Sunday.

This one is from the commute and also officially Geneva's red light district.

This fountain is managed by the state electricity firm.

Ha. No badges. Can't afford the extra weight.

It already has a fat git owner who needs to lose a few pounds.

Not shabby, Hiao! Thanks for the pics. Your bit of planet is especially beautiful.

WOW!! Nothing like a good view if you have to go to work. Not a lot of us have such a great ride, or office, or country. Enjoy it and remember those who are less fortunate...like those who have to work underground.

Thank you.

The Bagster is very comfortable, warm and doesn't restrict my movement. The previous owner left it on for me and I'm really happy with it.

Do you know what that semi-rigid thing on the side of the bagster that looks like a big pocket is for?
