How to take the dog along?

Post by romnation »

Has anyone figured out a real and safe solution to take the dog along for a ride? I'd like to scoot to the dog parks, but my dog is about 27lbs and I can't think of any real solution for this.

I don't know if you can do this on a PCX, but this is what I did when I had my Burgman 400. I know, it is a bigger bike. Also, my dog is only 18 pounds. Still, there should be a way that you can do this.

That's the same kind of pet carrier I have for my cat. . ..

I don't take him with me on the scooter or motorcycle though. . .. Just in the car. ;)

That said, although I've never done it, in a pinch or if necessary I would consider putting the pet carrier on the back of my bicycle. I've got baskets on the back that a pet carrier could be mounted on with bungee cords or something :geek:

I have an "outward hound" pooch pouch for my 12 pound maltese.

they sell them at most of the pet supply stores around here, and you can buy one online.

maggie loves riding with me

Well, my dog won't be riding with me any more. He died this morning. I have never before had a dog that was mine totally. If he didn't feel good, he went to me, not my wife. He slept right up against me every night. Then he got old and sick. Then he went to the big doggie playground in the sky. So sad, but he left on his terms. I just woke up to find that he had gone.

Sorry Mel. Nice that he went quietly, and you did not have to make the decision.

Still, the hole will be huge for a while.
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

 Nooo, so sorry Mel. That's a real heartbreaker losing "your" 4 legged Son and Best friend.
I have much to say, but truly, my words are swimming in a puddle.
I do seem to remember that you had several pups.
May Butch Rest in peace till you two meet again... for the best ride ever!

Hang on to any pictures you may have . . .. Even better if you have videos of your dog that you can watch now and then.

It's like losing a family member.

Sad day indeed. :(

The day is coming to a close. We have sent Butch off to be taken care of by the pet crematorium. He will join our other great dogs, to be remembered always. Before I sign off for the night I thought I would give you a glimpse of my boy. This picture was taken before he got sick, but you can see that he has aged in it.

I still wake in the middle of the night to check on him, but he isn't there any more. Grief takes its time.
We should be able to pick up his ashes today. Then he will come home again.
His body may be here but his spirit, no longer in pain or confused, is free.

Thank all of you for your condolences.

Are you going to spread his ashes? Favourite walk?

I think for now we will put him on our shelf in the dining room, which also has our router. We bought him his very own little mahogany box. He was a home-body, so being here is his favorite place.
